Indiana Jones.

Although I don't know why they prefer to put on Temple of Doom - it's the weakest of the three originals IMO.

Dr Zhivago. I really came on to say Gremlins

Trills · 12/12/2015 19:48

Christmas is a big plot point in The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe.

The White Witch makes it "always winter and never Christmas".

The man in red himself shows up to give the Pevensies gifts.

I must always be too far down the bottle by the time we have to watch die hard as I never, ever realised it was set at Christmas. Always wondered why the hell it was on at Christmas Blush

Trills · 12/12/2015 20:49

Haha yes Die Hard is generally on later at night!

Crooked House (3 part creepy story written by Mark Gatiss) it was shown Christmas Eve I think so it's always 'stuck' in my brain.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 12/12/2015 21:37

Jurassic park. It used to be shown after eastenders on Christmas day.

00100001 · 12/12/2015 21:37

ET.

It's on EVERY bloody Christmas!

Agree with Mary Poppins - I always remember it being on on Christmas Eve when I was little.

Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory (is that what the Gene Wilder one is called?) I remember watching it as an end of term Christmas treat at Primary school. We would sit in the hall while while the head would require helpers to help him wheel in the massive, but tiny by today's standards, TV. Grin

Trills · 13/12/2015 10:22

Does the Hogfather LOOK like it's "not actually about Christmas"? Hmm Grin

You're allowed to watch it (and it is great) but it's not exactly the phenomenon that I was referring to...

Wallace and Gromit is a good shout.

Any and every Bond film. And Shrek.

GladysTheGolem · 13/12/2015 13:10

Star Warses (Warsi? The space ones with the light swords) Xmas Smile

Any Hammer horror, there's something great about campy ghouls whilst wrapping Xmas presents.

FreeButtonBee · 13/12/2015 13:12

Snowball express - proper seventies kitsch, snowy but not about christmas

MoreGilmoreGirls · 13/12/2015 15:43

Sleepless in Seale (though there is a Christmas scene at beginning).

MoreGilmoreGirls · 13/12/2015 15:44

Ethelswith · 13/12/2015 17:30

Every single Bond film.

And Death on the Nile - it always seems to be on over Christmas.

DoubleDeClutchMuch · 13/12/2015 17:35

Gone with the Wind!
