Madness - my 2 year old has just got a Xmas card from a classmate!

I thought it was mad enough that whole school classes give cards - but is this now a trend in nurseries?

My 2 year old dd1 has got 2 cards in her bag to bring home - supposedly from her classmates - WTF!

They don't even know what letters are!

Am I the only one that finds this really weird - or is it normal behaviour so I need to buy a pack of cards 'from her'?

DD is 2 and like greeny's LO she understands about cards. She told me who her friends were and I wrote the cards. Then she did a drawing in each one. Then I helped her make one for the staff. I cut out a Christmas tree and she decorated it with glitter and sequins, gold star etc and then I stuck it on a card. And she had a go with the Christmas stamps. She went into nursery so proudly clutching her cards.

And woebetide anyone who tries to get in the way of DD doing everything that DS does.

My just 2 year old was so proud of having "written" her christmas cards and yes she would like some back -although she hasn't! The fact is she wants to do everything her big sister did - this was the 1st year dd1 wrote Xmas cards, but why shouldn't dd2 wrtie some too. She wrote 3.

The problem with my ds is that not only does he not really get cards yet he doesn't like drawing/scribbling much and gets bored after about 20 secs. My view is that if he is happy to take part I'll do it but if not I'm not doing it all for him. When he's old enough or keen enough to write/scribble on a card instead of tearing it/eating it I will happily do cards with him.

And before anyone says anyhting about doing stuff with him, he loves cooking and will happily mix, and pour with me for ages - he just doesn't like crafty/drawing stuff yet.
