... addressed to Santa. She asked if I could put it in the fireplace in our bedrooom (the only room with an open fireplace) (dh told them many years ago that if they leave them in the fireplace then they whoosh up the chimney by magic and get to Santa - a kind of reverse Harry Potter thing )

The reason why I am so chuffed though - she is 9. And still believes in Santa! So glad she isn't growing up too fast

that is so nice, gives me hope. dd is 6 and gave me a scare when we left the school grotto and she wondered 'that wasn't the real father christmas was it?' I managed to bluff through for this time, 'yes, darling, sometimes father christmas does wear glasses!'

Ah, we do the "Santa has lots of helpers that dress up as him, you never see the real Santa" - after seeing two Santas standing together once! Appeared to satisfy them at the time

the ones in the grotto are human helpers of santa because he is so busy to do it himself

Miaou
Dd believed in Santa until her Yr. 6 teacher announced just before Christmas 'of course, you're all too old to believe in Father Christmas now'.

I was not impressed

remember the year my brother & SIL where frantically trying to discover what their DD wanted for christmas cos she had written a letter to santa but not let them seen it and then sent it up her gran's chimney. All she would tell them was that "Santa knows what i want cos he got my letter" Wouldn't even give them a clue about what she wanted....... i thought it was funny at the time but now that DS is getting to that age can see how bad it was and really shouldn't have laughed so much

My DD is 9 in Jan. I wasn't sure if she still believed until the other day when she was helping me wrap pressies for the MN secret santa thingy. I was writing the cards 'from Santa' and she questioned it, saying wouldn't Santa be bringing present of his own!
I just explained that Santa had been very busy and so we were giving him a helping hand.
It's so lovely when it's still magic, didn't think we would still get away with it this year!

That's awful!!

I'm just amazed that no-one at school has let slip tbh. (Or maybe she is just hedging her bets, lol!)

the "awful" comment was to fairyjay - crossed posts!

(fortunately I got to have a look at what was in the letter - good job too as there were some off-the-wall things I would never have guessed that she wanted!)

brother solved the mystery by getting hold of the writing pad she had used and running a crayon over the page underneath to bring up what had been written on top IYSWIM.....

a few things on it were NOT on the list of what her mum & dad thought she wanted
