Oh dear, think I may be way off the mark with gift for 10 year old girl

I asked DH to pick up two small gifts for children of friends, we usually do token gifts rather than anything big or expensive.

He's done well for the teenaged boy but for the 10 year old girl he's bought a lamp that's a cross between a plasma ball and a lava lamp. Now I would have loved it at that age but I'm not sure whether most girls that age would.

I don't know the girl that well, she's not overly girly and I know she's just had her room redecorated so she might be happy to have a new lamp for it.

Those of you with DDs around that age- what do you think?

I think it was from Argos, it certainly looks like this one, the shape of a lava lamp but works like a plasma ball:

I loved this sort of thing at that age and seemed to get various novelty lights and lamps every year from the age of about 10 - 14...!
