Anybody found a fantastic present for a 2yr old boy? He's already getting a few car/truck type presents. My brother is nagging me to tell him what to get and so is his godfather!

Thanks!

Been to lots of 2nd birthday parties. Gifts included:

Books
Lego sets
Kitchens, play food, pots & pans etc
Musical toys
'Real' household things - mini brooms, hoovers that actually work
Bath toys

Can't think of any others atm

My ds is 2.3. He is getting a duvet as he got a big boy bed for his birthday, a lawnmower (plastic jobby that he adores at playschool), puzzles, books (current favourites include Duck in a Truck, Rumble in the Jungle, Hairy McLary, Little Yellow Digger)so a few from the same authors, a wheelbarrow (we are landscaping at the minute and he loves trying to tote dads barrow about but cant manage it at all)and some more duplo blocks for his collection (this is from Grandparents and I think that it is an animal related set like farm blocks etc...HTH...merry xmas

Oh,

baby doll & pushchair (my DS loves these)
Shopping trolley with fake food
Till with coins, credit card, beeping things, scanner
One of those space hopper things
A playhouse/ tent (like a castle or something)
Colouring book & crayons

anything kitcheny, my 2year old ds loves "cooking"

the only thing he plays with at the moment are tools, he "mends" everything

Something in a series - so another book by Julia Donaldson, or some more duplo, or more little people or happy land or whatever. My relations like this level of accuracy and to feel that they are adding to something.

Anything generic scares them as they walk into a toy shop and say "beach toys" and get shown 50 million different sets.

Last year ds1 was 2.4 at Christmas and his favorite present was a giant foam rubber floor puzzle.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Alot of the things we have as we also have a 3yr old dd and we're already buying him a shopping trolley for Christmas as he loves to push stuff around! I'm thinking maybe a toy hoover might be a hit...I'll have a look at the prices. Thanks again.

If I have a lot of toys for that age of child I tend to try to think ahead and ask for something else for use as they get older:maybe a cooking set, cookie cutters, art stuff always needs replacing too.

Your other DC is getting a shopping trolley maybe a second one to avoid any disagreement. (they can even have trolley races!!)

Stockingsofdinosaurs · 13/12/2006 09:34

Grrr, dinesaurs .

jabberwocky · 13/12/2006 10:10

Not yet dances I did finally post the recipe for you yhough. Did you see it?

paulaplumpbottom · 13/12/2006 10:23

Why not get him a kitchen

WHEELYbahhumBUG · 13/12/2006 12:22

this sort of thing for lego - lego farm

Its something different to just a box of bricks and would complement any other lego you have I reckon
