His main present is an iPod shuffle ( I.e. Tiny tiny box) and his stash of presents from FC looks meagre compared to 1yr old sister who has several large boxes of flashy plastic toddler toys. I need some low budget suggestions to even things up a bit, please!

A work bench? Can get them on amazon for about £20

A kitchen or shop? We got a kitchen in tk Maxx for £25

Do you have Tesco vouchers you can double up? Or boots card points?

Miloarmadillo1 · 06/12/2015 19:38

We have a toy kitchen but workbench might be an option, will have a look at those.

Bigtrak? Big box, flashing lights, buttons. So retro and old-tech but I'm pretty sure my 5yo DS is going to love his (from grandparents) more than the Kindle Fire he is getting from us.

We got soon to be 5 DS the playmobil set with the exploding volcano and t-rex. The box is possibly one of the biggest we've had delivered in a while, it's so difficult to hide so would definitely take up some room for you?

basic easel

Ours is still up in our playroom and the whiteboard side is in regular use. My youngest is turning 7.

Board games? Things like hungry hippos? Marble run or a domino run?

throwingpebbles · 06/12/2015 20:03

Basketball and a basketball hoop?

Or try 2nd hand selling sites? I have picked some lovely stuff up for my boy on these

How much is your budget? I got DS the bat cave from asda as was reduced from 65 to 35. It is really big.

madmother1 · 06/12/2015 20:08

A huge box with balloons in!!

BifsWif · 06/12/2015 20:09

That playmobil set mentioned above is fantastic. We bought it two years ago and it gets played with daily.

RabbitSaysWoof · 06/12/2015 20:18

My Mum got this for my ds, he is too young to know what real lego is, so he will be impressed.
Also I keep seeing shop versions of popular games for around a fiver if you are bulking out with medium size looking toys.

SitsOnFence · 06/12/2015 20:30

You can pick scooters up for under £15 if he doesn't already have one or needs a new one.

SitsOnFence · 06/12/2015 20:33

Those inflatable garden space hoppers can also be picked up for under £15 and would be a fun for Mum and Dad a 5 year old. They come un-inflated in small boxes, but you could get it out and blow it up before wrapping/sticking a bow on it.

Miloarmadillo1 · 06/12/2015 21:51

Thanks everyone. He has scooter and space hopper. The castle looks fab! That's the sort of thing I was after. He's too little to think about the cost of presents, size is everything!

I got DS a play tent to bulk up his birthday presents. The best bit is that it folds up small so doesn't take too Mach space to store!

I'm having the same issue, older ds is getting a guitar which will look huge under the tree. If I get to ikea before Christmas I am hoping to get this market stall for my younger ds, it looks like it will be great fun, fairly big under the tree but not last forever so can de clutter at some point and at only £10 a good price as well.
