So I normally get my ds teacher a thank you gift at the end of the summer term but I'm now thinking do I get something for Christmas? Last year I got them a box of nice biscuits but this year I'm thinking they must have had shit loads of biscuits lol. Any suggestions? Or do you not bother? X

Actually a parent dropped in some gorgeous cakes to our staffroom as a pre xmas present a few weeks ago.

Great idea to do it then, instead of at christmas when there's a deluge of biscuits! Was really appreciated.

I never expect presents - it's just my job - but do appreciate everything I'm given. Wine and chocolates are always appreciated - they don't all have to be eaten on the day!! One of my favourite mugs is a best teacher mug from a girl I genuinely know I made a big difference to. I know the sentiment on that occasion was really meant. It makes me smile every time I use it, even though seeing a confident girl enjoying school was more than enough thanks.

I too agree that it's so rude of teachers to moan when they get red wine but only drink white for eg. Even if you only drink white, it's always good to have a bottle of red to hand if friends are round.

I usually sent something in at primary school because dcs wanted me to.

Occasionally it was a parcel a couple of weeks before the end of term.
