Ok, I'm putting together my plans for Christmas menu. I'm feeding nine (that includes two toddlers and a baby) and have had a thread on the unreasonableness of not doing turkey all the way back in the summer Blush

This is the plan:

Melted Camembert and crudités with French stick on the table whilst we serve up- an informal starter to blend into the main.

Chautaubriand,
potato gratin,
carrots, broccoli, Brussels sprouts and bacon
Variety of steak sauces
I might do really fancy triple cooked chips too especially for my chip loving husband.

Dessert
Ice cream and chocolate puddings

Anything obvious that doesn't go or could be added to make it amazing?

Thanks so much!

My pal does an awesome e baked Camembert - add garlic to redcurrants or cranberry. Stir in and spread on top. Add layer of chopped pistachios maybe a drizzle of honey. Bake. Die happily.

Looks amazing. Sad that so many people insist on boring turkey in favour of such as fabulously luxurious treaty menu like yours.

iklboo · 01/12/2015 17:48

We're going for a curry.......

florentina1 · 02/12/2015 11:06

Sharoncarol43. Well that made 60 years of eating it worthwhile. Howe er I am dying to share that with people but they will the realise how much I hate it.

Turkey actually isn't that traditional, only around 100 years which in the scheme of things isn't that long, goose is more traditional for England. Scots tended to have beef or mutton and lots still do.

I'm veggie so debating nut roast, quorn roast or something else!

Dds friend is a cheese fan but her mum isn't. Dd has a dec birthday and friend is staying night before I'm considering doing a baked Camembert for that as she's never had it (dds reaction was Shock) nor even heard of it!

Obviously I'd not have the steak so can I have potatoes AND chips? Grin

What time again? Smile

I have lots of friends with non uk parents, traditional Christmas meals (and when they're eaten) vary wildly!
