Need some help with 3 YO DS, should I get him what he's asked for?

DS is three, he LOVES his toy kitchen and shop, it's his absolute favourite toy and is played with all. The. Time.

For Christmas he has asked for a bigger toy kitchen and a toy till with a scanner (the new ELC one) ours doesn't have a scanner and his toy kitchen is quite small and a bit cluttered with all his kitchen gadgets. I could buy him those things but it just seems ridiculous to buy him a bigger kitchen and different till when ours is perfectly good!

He's totally obsessed though and is convinced that's what he's getting, no amount of gentle dissuasion seems to be helping!

What should I do? Are there any kitchen accessories I could do instead maybe? He's got all the most common ones as its been his favourite for at least a year so has been a good present for everybody! So I'd need something a bit different this year!

Could you get some sort of cabinet as a sort of extension? Or a table and chairs/ picnic bench. I'd get the till though as he'll probably enjoy the scanner.

Get it, he is in the age of magic it won't hurt if his dreams come true while he is so young and you'll be able to sell the old ones.

If you can afford it and have the space I would get it. Loads of peoples Christmas presents are better/newer/bigger versions of what they already have. It probably is a bit daft but it's fine to be a bit daft when you are 3.

Record a message for him that says, "Unexpected item in bagging area."

How about a washing machine or a post office set? But I don't know if a three year old would be satisfied with that if he is convinced he's getting something else.

Get it if you can. We are getting mil a new iPad. She loves her one and uses it all the time but it's 5 years old. We are getting her the new iPad mini.

Same concept but I suspect a lot of people upgrade their favourite toy/gadget. Do you not get a new mobile every few years maybe?

Consensus seems to be getting it. I had a chat with him tonight and he's still determined that's what he wants though he was a bit disappointed I said we'd have to get rid of his small one (have room for a bigger one not TWO!) and i definitely will get him the scanner till. (They had one at guest services when we went to legoland and had to get him measured, it was the highlight of his weekend 😄)

Any recommendations of a good big kitchen? If we're swapping for a big one it's got to be a decent size or there's no point!

ELC have a nice retro diner kitchen atm reduced from £150 to £80

My Dsis loves her Little Tikes Cookin Creation kitchen. It's a bit pricy at roughly £150 but my mum says it's worth every penny for the amount of use its had

I can't wait till ds is old enough to buy things like this for. I was very tempted by the ELC one the other day but he's only 3 weeks old!

I'm going to go against the grain, but I don't think I'd buy a bigger kitchen. Mine are quite a bit older now (8 & 11) and although the kitchen is still played with when we get it out it's nice having one which is small enough to put out of the way.

We used a couple of floating shelves and hooks/spice racks from IKEA to enlarge the kitchen using space on the wall above it and a child size table and chairs near by usually became part of things.

Would a separate unit work with what you already have? something like this
