How good is Amazon Fire for kids unlimited (for age 7)?

DH is concerned that the apps pictured look too young, though the age range pictured is 3-10.

I have bought Dd the Amazon Fire 7" ( not the kids one ), it's only £35 on Amazon at the moment and almost half the price of the kids one.

We've got it for our kids, three boys aged 9-4 and it's £5 a month. It's not just the apps (though the bigger ones do have a lot from it) they also get access to the kids tv programmes to screen and loads of books too. I think it's well worth the money.

My kids are very good at destroying gadgets so I think we need the one with 2y no quibble insurance.

We couldn't see which books are on, DS is a good reader and dh was wondering whether DS will have enough to interest him.

Also having parental controls appeals

I think it would be fine for a 7 year old, lots on there for my almost 6 year old dd, when you set it up you program it with your child's gender and age and it then suggests appropriate stuff for them :-)

Maybe they should not be getting one till they're able to look after it?

The children's one on Amazon for 69 pounds has 2 years accident insurance, it seems very reasonable to me. I have a number of colleagues at work who are still using gadgets with broken screens, and they are in their 30s and 40s...

I wasn't keen on the reviews and that you have to pay after the first 12 months. Got a dragon touch instead as it was £40

Hi OP, I started a thread about this in chat a couple of days ago, have a look at that thread, lots f helpful info, convinced me to buy the kids one for my DD.

I've bought them for my 7 and 9 year old. Boost voucher so technically free or kind of thanks to shopping all year in Tesco.

Set one up and love it the child section is very handy, only content they can view is aimed at children so nothing innapropriate. We are prime customers so only £2 a month for all the kid content and anything else more grown up you can get on Amazon underground on the parent screen and transfer across to the kid page.

I'm impressed. Case is £20 though, would like to find them cheaper before I buy them but the content in my opinion is really good.
