Hi guys
Just a quick question just curious to know how much u all spend on ur kids at Xmas time, I have 3 boys 11,9 and 3 and just wondered what was an average amount to be spending on their presents as I have been known to go well over the top Grin

I'm Northern, and my parents really didn't go overboard or spend loads at all, though we still got nice presents - but not at all excessive. We'd typically get a main present at Christmas from FC, like a Lego toy or similar; and then one or two other things like a Fuzzy Felt set or a chocolate selection box from my parents, plus the stockings (which were some of the best presents despite being small and very cheap! My mum was very inventive with stocking presents.) I knew other kids who did have more toys, but for the most part I think my friends got about the same amount. My parents did buy us things between Christmas and birthdays though. They weren't hard up, but weren't flush with cash either.

I think I'm pretty similar to them in how I buy for DD; we tend to spend a medium amount at around £120-ish I think, but we do also buy toys at other times of the year if DD seems to need something new, especially as her birthday is very close to Christmas. (DH gets her a lot of educational toys, and craft materials whenever she needs them, and we buy books year-round.) So in that respect we may well spend as much or almost as much in total during the year as others do if they buy just at Christmas.

We don't give big presents on birthdays though - typically small toys and clothes.

Am Northern, Dh is Scottish. He'd probably spend £50 each if left to him. It isn't left to him though and we don't buy toys throughout the year. They will get about £300 each of presents (5&9) and tbh they get a lot from family too. However, ds (9) xmas list is 2 annuals, a football and a surprise. Dd (5) is a doll, a car and some bubble mix. They don't expect lots of presents and are grateful for what they get.

We tend to spend birthday money on a party / experience for them so they don't get many presents then really.
