The Muppet Christmas Carol? The Nightmare Before Christmas?

hufflebottom · 14/11/2015 22:18

Always muppets Christmas carol. Not as scary as the others. Mickey mouse Christmas-can't remember the full DVD title.

Impatientwino · 14/11/2015 22:24

We got the snowman and the snowmans dog for our then 2.5yo DS as he could only manage about 15 mins before losing interest!

I can't wait until he will sit and watch a whole film (basically so I can have a nice long sit down!) he's now 3.5 and still doesn't manage a whole episode of mr tumble Confused

FlopIsMyParentingGuru · 14/11/2015 22:26

Saving Santa is fun even if they don't "get" all of it. Easier to follow than Arthur Christmas.
There's a long Peppa Pig Christmas episode if I remember correctly.
DD aged 2 enjoyed the Curious George Christmas film too

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 14/11/2015 22:58

mickey's once upon a christmas and twice upon a christmas

mickeys magical christmas snowed in at the house of mouse

christmas themed dvds of their favourites programme? theres a cbeebies one on amazon?

HerdOfRhino · 14/11/2015 23:19

Kipper's Christmas Eve episode if you have access to YouTube and Meg and Mog's Christmas too. The Meg and Mog episode makes my little boy giggle for some reason Smile

Also I like watching old Sooty Show episodes with Matthew Corbett.

If you want an actual Dvd there's Raymond Briggs' Father Christmas,
Second Star to the Left,
The Tweenies Christmas Dvd, or The Forgotten Toys (with Joanna Lumley).

Lovelydiscusfish · 14/11/2015 23:32

How old is your toddler? Dd is now 3.5, so beyond toddler I guess, and this year is drawn to any re telling she can get her hands on of Christmas Carol. Some of them seem quite scary to us,but she has always been slightly drawn to the Gothic. We all have to keep pretending to be Scrooge's nephew, Tiny Tim, et al. It's a bit weird.
Last year, at 2:5, she absolutely loved The Snowman. A timeless classic - can't beat it.

Lovelydiscusfish · 14/11/2015 23:38

There is also an (extended?) Christmas episode of Old Jack's Boat (Cbeebies), that has me weeping buckets. It's about his wife, who died. Transpires she was a fascinating, heroic character. It's just lovely. Not a film, though.

glenthebattleostrich · 14/11/2015 23:40

Gruffalo and gruffalos child

ButtonMoon88 · 14/11/2015 23:44

The new Christmas snoopy film is out soon!

Sgtmajormummy · 14/11/2015 23:46

There's a Walt Disney compilation DVD that we trot out every year. It has the Little Donkey, the Prince and the Pauper Mickey Mouse, Goofy trying to ski and my personal favourite Donald Duck who cuts down Chip'n'Dale's tree full of nuts as his Christmas tree!
We used to have it on VHS as well, so I think it's an official title.

chocolatespiders · 14/11/2015 23:55

Is Nativity not young enough?

oobedobe · 15/11/2015 01:24

Mine really like the shorter Christmas movies at that age, Winnie the Pooh A Very Merry Pooh Year, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, Octonauts have two longish Christmas episodes, Curious George Merry Christmas.

cravingcake · 15/11/2015 07:09

We got The Polar Express last year for DS who was just over 3yo, he loved it and wanted to watch it every day for weeks.
Have got Arthur Christmas this year for DS & DD (almost 2) to share.

TranquilityofSolitude · 15/11/2015 07:17

Mine loved Bob the Builder's Christmas to Remember when they were toddlers.

Dd2 makes us all sit down to watch it every Christmas even though she is 16 now

attheendoftheday · 15/11/2015 18:32

I'm looking for an Xmas film for my dds too (age 4 and nearly 3). What age is Nativity suitable for?

Serendipitystardust1 · 15/11/2015 18:37

My DC's are 3 and 4 and absolutely love Nativity, and I have to admit to being quite fond of it myself. The music is really catchy and they both find the main character Mr Poppy, hilarious.

RidingSixWhiteHorses · 15/11/2015 20:20

my kids, aged 2 and 4, love Raymond Brigg's Father Christmas as will watch it all year round.

GloGirl · 15/11/2015 20:28

Ahh lovely suggestions thanks everyone. Can't wait to work my way through them all! Smile

My 3 year old loves mickeys once upon a Christmas and twice upon a Christmas.
The snowman. The snowman and the snowdog. Mappers Christmas Carol. Curious george Christmas special.

FireInTheDisco · 15/11/2015 21:27

DSD (3) loves Arthur Christmas, and it's one of my favourites too!

BuildersBum · 15/11/2015 21:29

Curious George - A very Monkey Christmas

liquidrevolution · 16/11/2015 14:25

After a recommendation from the bargain thread I bought my DD 18mo the Tom and Jerry Nutcracker DVD.

She was transfixed.

Want2bSupermum · 16/11/2015 14:30

My kids aged 4 and 2.75 love the Mickey mouse Christmas movies, polar express and veggie tales Christmas stories which is the nativity. We have tried (but failed!) to include the reason why we celebrate Christmas.
