Need to buy a present for an 8yo girl I have never met

I've signed up to donate a gift to a child in care via the Met Police's Christmas Tree appeal and have been allocated an 8 yo girl. Can anyone suggest a gift up to £20 in value which is likely to be appreciated by a girl who I know nothing about?

Echo some stationery or craft stuff, I loved both at that age

I volunteer with a lovely girl in long term foster care. She's 15 so likes to go shopping for her own presents now but I always buy a few small surprises to unwrap and she has had years where she's had almost nothing. the years of kinship care were worse for presents than when she was with non family foster carers.

Those of you who suggested pencil cases, I'd 100% agree with. Did a primary school tour recently and it seemed every child in juniors had a bag or pencil case from Smiggle. Bits from there was also what my niece and nephews have asked for.

We've done something similar at my work before. My understanding was that it is for children in care homes rather than foster care.

Anything crafty is likely to go down well and I love the scooter idea!

Yes RainbowRoses, drop at local police station with the reference number they email you when you sign up.

Smiggle is definitely THE thing. One of their zip up pencil cases filled with bits and bobs from there.
It's what all the kids want.

I was coming on to suggest stationery. My 8 (almost 9) year old has not really played with toys for ages, and when we had our summer clear out, she got rid of most of her sylvanian families / barbies / dolls etc...

DD and her friends are very much into nice stationery though. Either Smiggle or Blott. They love sparkly pens and funky rubbers.

In my experience "anything" from Claire's accessories! Xmas Grin
