Can anyone inspire me ? She has everything of course and wants nothing but still need to get her a present. Can't see so good to be able to read so books are out.

Crystallised fruits?

hatwoman · 07/12/2006 18:57

books on tape/cd? a recording of your dcs bellowing out some christmas carols?

belgo · 07/12/2006 18:58

Moisturising cream, or bubble bath?

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 07/12/2006 18:58

I'm giving nearly-99 yo GrandmaDragon a whole load of greeting cards plus books of stamps to cover the bulk of the next year's requirements.

HumphreyCushiONtheFirstNoel · 07/12/2006 18:59

Just bought my grandmother a portable CD player and an audiobook CD.
Gave it to her early (today).
I will be explaining how to use it until next Christmas.
It will take over from her mobile phone in the irritation stakes.
So now I wish I'd stuck to my original plan of bath salts and a nice, huge fluffy towel.

admylin · 07/12/2006 19:02

The fruit idea is good, she can't eat chocolate any moore. Use dto get her honig-wein, a sort of sweet wine/liqueur from germany and chocolate raisins but she can't eat/drink either any more. Fluffy towel also good, fluffy anything maybe like gloves or socks. Thanks for inspiring me...getting ideas now!

Really really warm slippers, that are very easy to slip on.

wrappingpaperBOwZZAndribbons · 07/12/2006 19:15

Think slippers might also need to be supportive if she is a bit unsteady on her feet but obviously useful.

gigglinggoblin · 07/12/2006 19:19

how old are your kids? can they do a painted mug or vase or something? we gave mil a photo album full of grandchildren photos last year and she still talks about how much she loves it

belgo · 07/12/2006 19:21

We've just given the 95 year old grandfather of my dh a picture of a Christmas tree, decorated with photos and glitter, that my two year old dd made (under my strict supervision of course!)

Queenmummy · 07/12/2006 19:47

Foodie hamper containing things she likes and can eat
Nice warm rug/throw
Hotel Chocolat delivery
Music to listen to (can you track down some from her youth but on easy-to-use CD instead of records? - my Granny LOVED this)
Framed photo of family members
Nice pair of gloves
Homemade "voucher" for lunch out and transport on a weekend of her choice (you take her obviously!)

admylin · 07/12/2006 19:47

Year before last I gave gran a book we made over the year with drawings and notes from the kids and I gotit covered professionally so it looked like a real book.

why not take her or yours favourite pics of the family from over the years and have them professionally mounted onto one frame.

I'm giving my 93 yr old granny an audiobook of Terry Wogan's autobiography (read by Terry Wogan). I do love her, really.

BettySpaghetti · 08/12/2006 14:45

We bought my Gran a birdtable and bird feeders one year as she loved watching the birds and squirrels from her window when she could no longer physically get out there.

catinthehat · 08/12/2006 15:01

I now regularly send the annual school photo to the most elderly (and long distant) relatives. I was informed that one rel. had no other photos AT ALL on show in the house except the school photo - I think she was v pleased.

Stockingsofdinosaurs · 08/12/2006 15:52

Buy my mum's book on tape! It's great for grannies, have a look at the paperback here but you can buy the audiobook here .
