sorry to be so tedious - I have looked and I can't see any threads for 3 year old boys. Any ideas? and if they were ideas from the GLTC catalogue I would think you a superstar who enabled me to all nephews/neieces in one fell-internet-swoop

animals (any animals)
cars
face paints. preferably involving animals.
um
that's what ds is getting!

DS2 is 3 in February. He's obsessed with cars and trains and scattering anything else over the floor. He has loads of cars already and Brio (Brio compatible) and Thomas. That would be my first suggestion. If he's got some then buy more. Books of course are great at any age. DVDs - Thomas, Balamory etc. Felts, crayons and stickers never go amiss.

diggers

littlemadam · 07/12/2006 20:34

Those fab looking Bilibo things in the GLTC catalogue, have just ordered two!

hatwoman · 07/12/2006 20:35

I wondered about those little madam, do you think they'll be put to lots of use?

puzzles
cars
toddler laptop
one of those toys with all the different gears
magnetic building toy
wooden dollhouse with doll/figures
melissa and doug washable ink stamp set
anything Thomas the Tank Engine and/or other train set

littlemadam · 07/12/2006 20:40

I really don't know, they'll either be a real hit, or will never be used. DD has one of those hippychick ladybirds which she is never off, so thought this would be good for whizzing around. DD is nearly 3 and loves Thomas!

deaconblue · 07/12/2006 20:41

I saw Mike Mclean on Richard and Judy doing a thing with those bilibo thingies and the little kids went mad for them - they jumped in them, made hats out of them, sat in them and drove imaginary cars. Fab.
I have bought dh's nephews a trip to see Aled Jones in panto (ok so that's a present for me really!) and a build a fort with knights etc thing from m and s (only a fiver!)

Ds3 has a huge dinosaur that he LOVES.
It's like the toys farm/zoo animals in ELC but about 18" long.
He's started wrapping it up in his blanket like a baby now so I'm getting him a soft dinosaur so at least he can't gouge his eyes out in bed at night with the hard one!!!

kikidee · 07/12/2006 20:46

What about some Playmobil? Still a bit young but our DS will be 3 in April and he's getting a pirate ship and a scooter. He's also got some DVDs, some story CDs, some books and a good matching pair game (Orchard toys Noahs Ark). Orchard Toys games are very good and mostly start from 3/4 so he may not have anything like that already.

In our house, we love Sportacus, Lunar Jim, Underground Ernie, space generally, robots, pirates and cranes!

Ladymuck · 07/12/2006 20:46

Fire engines were a hit here

paulaplumpbottom · 07/12/2006 20:51

Why not get him a kitchen and start good habits early. His future wife will love you for it!

Nemoinapeartree · 07/12/2006 20:54

hatwoman my ds was 3 in october and his santa list included a kitchen and a phone. He also loves anything diggers, cars, trucks etc and my friends little boy who is same age is really into dinosaurs and animals so any of them will be a hit.

MistressMiggins · 07/12/2006 20:55

A shake'n'go speedway, I don't think it uses batteries, you shake the cars and they race around the track.

Lego - the proper stuff. Our ds has been obsessed with the stuff since he was given a bucket of second hand Lego when he was not quite 3. We watched with baited breath to see if we'd have to stop him eating it, but he played engrossed for three hours without once putting it near his mouth. Of course if the three year old hasn't grown out of eating everything in sight, then it may not be such a good idea.
