What does your Christmas eve, Christmas day and Boxing day look like?

My Christmas eve this year will go something like this...
Up early and slope out to the hairdressers for a wash & blow (7am appointment!) Back home to wake 6 year old DD who will be delighted to see that the Christmas elves have left her a hamper filled with a Christmas book, new toothbrush, pj's, slippers, reindeer food and a sachet of snowman soup (white hot choc) with a candy cane and Christmas mug. I'll then bath her and wash her hair and get her dressed and we'll meet some family and friends at our local pub who are doing a Christmas eve festival with food, music, games etc. We'll get home around 6pm and watch Carol's from Kings (might have to record it if it's already been on) eat turkey and homemade pork and chestnut stuffing sandwiches, drink hot chocolate, sprinkle then reindeer dust, watch the snowman and then DD will go to bed. DP and I will put the presents out, have a bucks fizz, watch some festive telly and then i'll go to midnight mass.

Christmas day will look something like this...

I always get up first, I like half an hour to myself with the lights twinkling on the tree, a hazelnut latte and a box of ferrero rocher Wink DD will come down the stairs around 7.30am/8am and the presents will all be opened. We'll have a light breakfast of pastries, fruit salad etc. I'll collect my Mum and Sister around 12pm and they are coming with us to our local for Christmas dinner. After dinner we'll visit family for a couple of hours and then PIL's are coming to us around 6.30pm for a buffet, drinks and board games. We might have a couple of friends and their kids dropping in too.

Boxing day will look something like this...

A bit of a lie in and then a full English breakfast. A lazy morning with chocolates/toys/Christmas telly and then around 4pm we're off to my Cousin's for a buffet and board games. Home for some booze and party food with DP and at that point i've probably gained a stone.

Hope you enjoyed your pj day random.

Christmas eve we have a longish lie then wake to find the elves have left our Christmas eve hamper (PJ's for everyone, bath bombs, hot choc, popcorn, peppermint bark and stick man book and cinema tickets). I set the table for tomorrow whilst Dh goes to collect our meat order from the farm shop. We go to see a film then out for a late lunch. Home for bath, book and bed.
Dh and I then have a few ports, cheese and fruitcake whilst putting out the gifts.

Christmas morning everyone opens their stockings in our bed around 8am with a big pot of tea. Then its down stairs to exchange gifts. My family are coming over for brunch then Pil, Bil and Sil coming at 3 for dinner (we dont eat till 5.30ish). General games, chatting and drinking wine.

Boxing day we go to the local national trust park for a long walk with flasks of hot chocolate then home for roast ham, cheese, bread, pickles etc and a good film.

Christmas Eve: we always have a day out. I will try to convince everyone to go to the zoo but I will be outvoted and we will go to soft play again. We will have revolting soft play food for lunch, but the kids will be happy. We will come home to discover an Xmas eve hamper (hopefully not eaten by the dog in our absence) and the kids will do whatever crafty activity with my mum while I attempt to resolve whatever Christmas crisis (run out of wrapping paper, forgotten essential element for Xmas dinner) that crops up. Dp will assemble a gingerbread house for the dc to decorate, and will burn himself. Dc will, however, be deliriously happy with it. Then an Xmas film, which the kids will whinge about and ask to watch Frozen again, but eventually enjoy. Then bath, with sprudels from the hamper, and bed. Then dp and I will try to assemble a dolls house while drinking which will not help. We'll remind each other it's not as bad as the year we put up a trampoline in the snow. I will realise I've bought too much, but both dp and dm, who is staying, will be kind about it.

Christmas day: the dc will get up at about 5.30. I will have had very little sleep. We will open stockings together in bed and go downstairs. The dc will be delighted and excited, and I will have a brief period of thinking the prep was all worth it. We will open some presents in pjs and dm will point out she never would have let me open presents before breakfast. Then bacon sandwiches and cinnamon rolls for breakfast, present opening spaced out over the morning interspaces with searches for batteries and occasionally rounding up the wrapping paper before it totally fills the room. Dp will do the main bits of lunch and I will take the dc and dog out for a walk to give him some peace. I will also start drinking wine.

Lunch will not go to plan. Probably there'll be a 45 min wait between courses due to a timing error. We will all agree this is ideal as we're so full. The kids will play with cracker toys for a bit, and I won't worry if they want to get down and play between courses. No one will have space for dessert.

After lunch an extra present will have appeared under the tree for the whole family. It will be a game, and we'll play it. Then more toys, probably a film, and another dog walk. The kids will be knackered by bedtime and I won't bother to put them in the bath. After bedtime we'll watch Dr Who and drink more. The house will be a tip and I won't care.

Boxing day: I leave for work at 6.15am and return at 11pm, so dp will play with the kids and entertain my mother. Hopefully none of my patients will set fire to the ward like last year.
