Do you know my Aunty Jean? Hers are magnifique.

MistleToo · 07/12/2006 21:30

As usual I vote for Bell's boozy mince pies from Booths. Asda extra special ones are rather good too.

MrsMillsletoe · 07/12/2006 21:31

Due to an almighty cockup we ended up with Greggs (fabbo northern bakery) and Harrods mince pies (farking expensive).

Imo Greggs were much nicer, and only £2 for 8.

paulaplumpbottom · 07/12/2006 21:36

Mine

foxinsocks · 07/12/2006 21:38

M&S classic deep filled

Sainsburys ones with the sugared bits on top not the ones with decorations on top (can't remember the name)

We have eaten our way through 6 boxes already and I have put on 2kg

MammyMto3kids · 07/12/2006 21:39

Asda ones in a red box, dairy free and delicious!!! fabaroonie mate!!!(for those lactose intolerant among us!)

hatwoman · 07/12/2006 21:42

angmarie · 07/12/2006 21:45

Marks and sparks got voted 5/5.
Co-op got voted 4/5.
Asda got 3/5.
Tesco 3/5.
Sainsbury's 1/5.
Was suprised at sainsbury's being crap. Aparently all you can taste is the butter in the pastry.

foxinsocks · 08/12/2006 09:22

they probably tried the wrong sainsburys ones

the sains ones with the sugar on top are really delish

EmmyLou · 08/12/2006 10:24

Make your own.

Delia's recipe for mincemeat (dead easy, assemble ingredients, soak over night then place in oven on low for 3 hours and the smell is just sublime....)

Nigella's pastry - half trex half butter, use orange juice to combine.

xmasmummy · 08/12/2006 10:27

i make my own (or get me mum to do it) buy jar of mincemeat and diy. lovely with clotted cream

HowSassilywondrousgiftisgivn · 08/12/2006 10:28

Home made every time.

Sainsbos Taste the Diff are ok if desperate.

corrina28 · 08/12/2006 10:31

i make my own.

HoHoHorsewoman · 08/12/2006 10:42

A few years ago we went on the Santa Express (steam train from Swanage). They served the best mince pies ever (homemade) yum

expatinscotland · 08/12/2006 10:44

Please share Delia and Nigella recipe

foxinsocks · 08/12/2006 10:47

(expat, while you're on here - how's dd doing? is she back to normal again?)

expatinscotland · 08/12/2006 11:01

Foxy
She's STILL got a lingering cough, but she's back to her antics again. She was doing the typical 3-year-old happy one minute/stroppy mare the next routine last night.
