Anyone buying their DC a tablet for Christmas and want to tell me what they bought?

We've decided to buy 3yo and 7yo DC a tablet for christmas, so that I get my iPad back to use myself!

I'd decided a month ago to get the hudl 2, despite iffy reviews about the screen cracking and it not charging. But they're like hens teeth to get hold of, so I will have to reconsider.

Happy to pay maybe £1-200. They would only use or for games and internet. The 7yo likes watching wildlife documentaries on iplayer, and the 3yo likes games and youtube uploads.

Thanks v much.

Just checked and yes you can get onto and use google through the silk browser and also onto the reading eggs website.

Place marking as I am currently engaged in this debate. Thinking about a Kindle Fire 8 (i think) . Was all set to get Hudls til I found out on here they had stopped making them!

Thanks cornflakes that's really good to know. I was 90% sure I was going to go for the fire, but dd loves reading eggs so might have had to rethink otherwise.

I've bought my 5 year old Ds a Samsung galaxy tab 4 7 inch. I have the 10 inch tablet and he loves it but it's a little to big for him to hold and he's almost dropped it a few times, so I thought I'd get him the smaller version and put on parental controls.

do you think tablets will be selling on black Friday,im still deciding on one for dc who will be 9 in December

Ds (8) had his first tablet last Christmas - a kindle fire - and he absolutely loves it. I would like advice on parental controls though - how can I set them up easily?

kindle fire does sound popular

Just to let peeps know, the new Amazon Fire wont support a furby app, it may do in future. Its probably not relavant for anyone else, its just we are also getting dd a furby and really want the app. But it also means a few other things may not be on it.

we are going for the amazon fire for the little one, and samsung 129 in tesco for odler child.

I did notice in the tesco reviews for the samsung, the word love is liberally used Grin

I wonder if anyone could advise me: my DS is just 9 and I wanted to get him a kindle fire for Christmas. I was going to get the kids version - is that suitable for his age group? Thanks Smile

megan how do you put on parent controls please

May I resurrect this thread please, and as a Kindle newbie, ask - is it wise to buy a brand-new, factory sealed Kindle Fire 7" from a second party? Someone on our local parents group is selling one he won in a raffle, for £10 below Amazon's price. As it was a raffle prize, I assume it's not locked to anyone's Amazon account and I'd need to set it up to mine. But I've read about a lot of ads that you have to pay £10 to get rid of - and is that even possible with a Kindle you've bought via another person (even if sealed and new)?
