I can't cook a cake, well not a fruit cake.
What's good? The cake in Lidl looked good but I need one a larger.

Betty's are amazing Xmas Smile

Last year we had the stollen...

Bettys is £££ though. Aldi's is v good, otherwise I'd go M&S.

fraggle84 · 30/10/2015 20:11

M&s have a nice one for £5 at the moment

SilverHawk · 30/10/2015 22:02

M&S for £5! It must be tiny.
The Betty's looks fine until you read the size. My DH would eat that in one sitting.
I was wondering about a Waitrose fruit cake? Would it pass?

We buy mini cakes from a local church Christmas Fair every year - they are delicious! How large does it need to be/how many does it need to feed?

SilverHawk · 30/10/2015 22:14

It's not so much about how many to feed, I just feel that a 20cm 'looks' right. It can also go on into the New Year. I have never eaten Christmas cake, as I can never be sure of the nut situation. I don't cook them because I like to taste what I'm making.
Safer option all round.
I should say that I am very happy to buy a cake with nuts in, on or whatever.

Thank you, I'll have a look at the M&S cake.
