Every year I buy Dh a bottle of something creamy, sweet and alcoholic as a little pressie. He's had every flavour of baileys, Thornton's liqueur and Dooley's toffee liqueur. Last year I got him a gorgeous toffee vodka which I liked more than he did! He's generally not into strong spirits, prefers a creamy type drink. Any suggestions?

Looks like you can only get it from sainsburys, according to mysupermarket

ImperialBlether · 26/10/2015 12:44

Not creamy, but has he tasted Cointreau?

lighteningirl · 26/10/2015 12:55

Not very helpful but I just opened a bottle of last year's sloe gin and its bloody gorgeous

Vixxfacee · 26/10/2015 12:56

Chambord

It's quite difficult to come by but my Dh absolutely loves a Spanish liqueur called Ponche Cabellero.

It's spiced orange in flavour. It's based on brandy but it's very syrupy. You make a long drink with any mixer, you have it over cake or ice cream or in coffee, if you serve it in frozen shot glasses with lime it tastes like fizzy Cola bottle sweets and you can also have it on its own.

It's also in a very striking silver bottle. I like to do the same with dh for Xmas and nice booze.

That aren't that many creamy ones to choose from though. What about Limocello? Or Frangelico?

My friend gave me an (Italian I think?) thick sweet shot of an orangey coloured stuff poured over lots of ice, that was very medicinal a bit like Jaegermeister but not. I can't remember the name, I'd love to find some.

There's also that Bottega chocolate grappa liqueur that looks nice.

LeaveMyWingsBehindMe · 26/10/2015 13:06

Ramazzotti! That was it! Just found it on google. yummy.

CoteDAzur · 26/10/2015 13:07

Limoncello (Italian)

Mastika (Greek). It's amazing.

Raeray · 26/10/2015 13:10

Thornton's chocolate liquor is lovely.
I don't normally go for creamy drinks like baileys etc but this is amazing- might go and hunt out the dregs of last years bottle!!!

Raeray · 26/10/2015 13:11

*liqueur

ImperialBlether · 26/10/2015 13:13

Listen, Raeray, it can't be that good if you've still got some left!

ImperialBlether · 26/10/2015 13:15

Just looked up the Thornton's liqueur - it's not longer available. Sad

Minnie577 · 26/10/2015 13:15

It's not creamy but sloe gin is lovely. Throat warming Grin

Raeray · 26/10/2015 13:21

Haha, it's right at the back of the top of my fridge that I can't reach which means there may be a little sniff left!
Although maybe people didn't agree with me if they've stopped making it?!
New mumsnet campaign maybe Wink

hifi · 26/10/2015 13:51

this is lovely, not too sweet either www.thewhiskyexchange.com/P-13832.aspx

You can make your own.

Bring double cream up to the boil, but don't let it boil, take it off the heat, and pour it over the same amount of chopped chocolate (dark, milk, white, a mixture - your choice), and stir to melt the chocolate. Let it cool a bit, and then pour in vodka, stirring continuously, until it reaches your desired cream liqueur consistency. Bottle.

It is lush - and delicious poured over ice cream.

VulcanWoman · 27/10/2015 11:00

Has anyone mentioned Amarula.
Keep saying I'm going to make some Eggnog, saw this recipe on Sainsbury's

Yum.

Goldschlager is lovely and Christmassy. It's a sweet cinnamon flavoured schnapps with flecks of gold foil in it, and tastes like apple pie when mixed with apple juice.

One year M&S did a white chocolate cream liqueur, it was immense.

ScarlettDarling · 27/10/2015 12:19

mackerel the cinnamon schnapps sounds like my idea of heaven! DH would rather stick pins in his eyes than eat/drink anything with cinnamon in though, so it's not for him.

The White chocolate liqueur on the other hand would be right up his street!

I got a white chocolate and mint one last year, that was creamy and absolutely lovely. Think it was called warnicks. I got it from asda.

thriftymrs · 27/10/2015 16:48

Last year I bought my sister the M&S Elderflower liqueur which she loved. Thinking of trying the Pomegranate one for her this year or maybe the Pink Grapefruit.

candykane25 · 27/10/2015 21:13

If you like Drambuie, you will love Glayva. Mmmm.

CakeNinja · 28/10/2015 07:17

I was going to recommend the tesco salted caramel liqueur too, went through about 4 bottles last year (not just me, we had a lot of guests too!) and it was divine.
I hate baileys but this was so moreish.
