Does any one have a Matalan code to hand at all? I've looked online and on the thread and can't seem to find one that works. Their children's Christmas bedding is too nice to miss! Thanks

IAmAPaleontologist · 30/10/2015 10:03

Iggi you can use a smartphone with no sim etc in it, just buy one outright. However, a cheap one tends to be pretty slow and clunky and smaller screens etc are not great. My dc used to have my old phone but it wasn't ideal, I'd say you are much better off getting a tablet, the kindle fire is only £49.99, it is exactly the same as the kids one they sell for £79.99 just without the case and subscription to kids films. Plus there is the added bonus that you can set time limits on it and it will not let them use it once they've used their time which you can't do with a phone.

I sent my DP a link to some clothes I would like for my birthday. He just text to say can I pick something else to get it to the Free Delivery limit. Happily browsing away then our conversation goes:

Me: Have you used the code?
DP: What code?
Me: Theres a 25% off code on the homepage
DP: Oh ok ill add it after you pick
Me: Also, do you know theres a free delivery over £10 code?
Dp: Oh ok, dont you want anything else then?
Me: Well hold on I never said that

Chooses dress
Me: Dont forget to check Quidco

Haha, once you become a bargain hunter, it is in your blood Grin

Peppers, not sure how much the bed stuff is but -
£5 off for spend of £25 - BEAA76AD32
Or £10 off £50 is 7OECEE5E61

Lots of good tips re phone/tablet, thank you all. Had been heading more toward a phone size as given the choice he will pick up my phone rather than iPad. Basically I need to do something quickly before he smashes the damn thing! I was talking to a group of teenagers the other day at school, everyone of them had a smartphone and every one of them had a cracked-to-buggery screen.

WhirlwindHugs · 30/10/2015 10:42

In the meantime have you got a decent case and screen protector? (I think silicon ones are best) I reckon mine have saved my phone many times!

PamelaEwing · 30/10/2015 10:45

Groupon Refurbished Apple iPad 2 16-64GB With Wi-Fi or 3G from £149 (depending on memory size) iPad 2

jingscrivvens · 30/10/2015 11:16

I've had so much help from you guys, thanks! So, here are some lightning deals in case anyone needs -

toot toot train station £30.14 43% off
deluxe track £8.51 34% off

garage £33.29 33% off

parking garage £21.58 35% off

The first 2 finish in about 45 mins, the rest in a couple of hours. It also says there are some toot toot animal sets coming up, but you can can buy just now if you have amazon prime.

I've just bought melissa and doug cutting fruit for £8.99, I went in to Aldi to buy theirs last night, but were sold out! Though for 99p more this sets quite bargainous!

namechangedtoday15 · 30/10/2015 11:17

My 'lost my name' books have arrived this morning. They are really lovely. Thank you to whoever posted the idea.

jingscrivvens · 30/10/2015 11:17

Ach, the fruit has already gone back up in price!

jingscrivvens · 30/10/2015 11:19

I lied, the fruit is still at £8.99, just won't let me buy again. I'm a bit obsessed about a bargain now, see what this thread has done this to me!

IAmAPaleontologist · 30/10/2015 11:21

The £49 kindle is a smaller size I think, more like ipad mini size. Failing that some phones are pretty indestructable, mine is the samsung s4 active that MN product tested yonks ago and it is waterproof, can be dropped no bother. Mine has no case on and while there are a few dings on the edge of the case the screen doesn't even have a scratch. But I think even if you were getting one second hand you could buy at least 2 kindles for the money.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 30/10/2015 11:28

Regarding phone cases, I cannot recommend otterbox commuter ones highly enough, absolutely brilliant

Kerrierr · 30/10/2015 11:28

This thread is going to bankrupt me lol. I've bought 2 gumball machines and 2 You Choose books I never knew I wanted/needed!!! And I'm on the verge of placing another molten brown and hotel chocolat order!!!!

TobleronebooI had the same conversation with my husband the other day. I've told him not to buy me anything unless I've checked for promo codes and cashback!!!!

Just checked and it's RCN25 and you also get free hand cream, can not be used on sale items.

Just had an email from Truprint, photo panels £6.66 + P&P with code SPOOKTASTIC15.

I have a feeling I got photo panels last year for just the postage though, can anyone remember?

Can't decide whether to get these now or not

bluesky · 30/10/2015 13:06

Thanks for checking eastmids but nope, still not working for me, I've got the free hand cream because I spent £50 I think. Does code perhaps start in Nov?

VC15 gives you 15% off, but obviously would love the 25% off!

I really want a Kitchen Aid for Christmas, can't decide if I should get it know as it comes with a free mini processer and glass bowl, or if I should wait for a better deal.
