My dd (6.5yrs) keeps asking for a sew cool. I have seen mixed reviews. Any opinions/experiences?
Thanks

I bought my DD one last year. It has been fun for both of us to do together. It hasn't jammed yet though which I think is what people have complained about.

Ours broke within 5 minutes!! Did hadn't even used it as I was just trying it out so nothing to do with technique etc. Reviews are generally terrible. I bought the mini John Lewis one in the end. All diff colours £50 with year long guarantee.

Utterly pointless.
We bought DD the mini john Lewis sewing machine instead.
She has made the little cushiony type things the sew cool makes but she has also made skirts, dresses and a cuddly toy. She is six and perfectly able to use it safely but is always supervised. I must say the slow speed is very frustrating for me but she doesn't notice. Also it only has one foot and no buttonhole function so I have to do button holes and zips on my machine.

Sew Cool does the same job as this
Mini sewing machine is a lot more adaptable. Don't give in to the pester power of adverts. Both my DS could use a sewing machine by 7 or 8. DD (20) is just becoming interested.

The model penny has linked to is the one DD has. It is a proper sewing machine and the sewcool is not.

Yeah, I was going to say just get a real sewing machine! Sis and me were using mum's at about 6&8.
