I think this has got to be the last year when Santa comes, and I am totally stuck for what to buy for a "Big" present for my sons...
DD (13) knows all about Santa and goes along with us because I pointed out that those who believe get lots of presents, and those who don't get A present from Mam and Dad Grin and she has a list a mile long of stuff she wants.
I just cannot think what to get the boys for their main thing. I can do stocking fillers til they come out of my ears, but this year am at a total loss for anything else Confused
What are you getting your DSs this year?
(One is dinosaur and zebra mad and one is panda obsessed, but that is so not helping me so far! We are on a bit of a budget too, am looking at maybe £50 at most for the Big Thing)
Please help Grin

Heelys. He's 8. They were on sale too for £40, I'm thrilled with them, I want a pair!

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 15/10/2015 06:11

OOO I never thought of those! No3 son (11) wanted one of those Swegway things, but I couldn't afford them, so was quite thankful when they banned them this week.
Heely's may well be do-able though, if only they make them big enough.
Our family have MASSIVE feet Grin no3 son is in a 6/7 and no4 son is in a 4 already! I shall google them though - Brainwave Grin thank you!

Nerf guns.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 15/10/2015 06:59

We have Nerf guns - I have bought them a couple of hundred new darts for stocking fillers Grin They are so much cheaper on ebay and Amazon than they are in the shops!

You're welcome Pom. Heelys do actually come in adult sizes up to 12 so dont think you'll have a problem. I got them from

Do they have an x-box/ play station 3/4 or wii u? You could get the new LEGO dimensions. Tesco sell It & if you shop there & have points to spend you could wait until club card boost is on to get some money off. Not sure if Sainsburys sell it but they're foing a points double up in Nov so if they do this could be an option too.

The 11yo wants a wii u for his bday this month. So doesn't really want much 'tech' for Christmas. I have a plasma ball, Swatch watch, some Harry Potter stuff (Gringotts coins etc) and some new bits from their rugby team on his list.
DS 9 we are going to get him and iPad mini, rugby stuff as above, Swatch watch and a board game-he loves them.
So those kind of things. I love the idea of Heelys though...
My ils are getting them a trampoline, and tbh, I think everything else will be ignored over this,Grin!

Ds1 is 12 and it is a tricky age I must say.
He has got the new Nerf gun - the one that you can take apart and customise - £39 on Amazon...£60 everywhere else!
He has mostly got games for the PS3, a DVD box set and Star Wars monopoly :)
Just also got him some toiletries and an Ireland rugby top.
That's him done.
But ds2 (7) is soooo much easier!

One of my favourite years with the dses was when the one thing I was going to get for ds2 and ds3 (a Wii) was completely sold out absolutely everywhere, and I had to do a fast re-think.

I took the budget I had for the wii, split it, and bought them a stack of different things - a rugby shirt each, a psp game for ds3 and ds game for ds2, dvds, and some other, less pricey things - and wrapped them all up individually, so they got a stack of stuff to open - which they loved!

Oh - and just in case anyone is worried - ds1 was not left out - he wanted a particular part for his bike that Christmas - and luckily that was not sold out like the Wii!

Mine are the same age as your OP

Their main present share is a very very large lego set (death star - I can't believe I've bought it but it was on offer early in the year and I couldn't resist)
They also have disney infinity 3.0 to share plus a disney infinity toy box game to share.

Then I've got them:

book set each
two disney infinity characters each
CD each
game each - bananagrams for DS2 and Labyrinth for DS1
decent torch each
marvel bubble bath/shampoo/shower gel set each

That's it so far. they will probably have a couple of little bits more and then their stockings.

My son is 9 and dinosaur mad. How about a Lego Jurassic World set? The T-rex one is £60 or there are 2 raptor ones around £40-£50 price range. My 9 year old is getting the Jurassic World Indominous Rex which is £40, it's currently on offer in Argos for £31.99 which is the price I got it for. I can't wait to give it to him!

Lego Dimensions is a good idea, my son had it last week for his birthday and it's been a real hit. Any relatives can then buy the sets/fun packs as gift ideas.

Casting my mind back, those ages were the large lego set years for mine

starlight2007 · 16/10/2015 22:03

DingbatsFur · 17/10/2015 01:52

My 8 year old is getting Lego Mindstorms for xmas. He was told he would get nothing else and was fine with that.
