The work christmas lunch

I'm being a bit of a party pooper and not going to mine.

It's a week before Christmas in a mediocre hotel charging 40 quid a head (including some wine but I don't drink).

I'm one of the lowest earners in my office team so just cant really justify spending that much on a meal, it's earmarked as last minute present money.

Do you go to yours and if so am I missing out on a good night?

I don't go to the bigger one.

Our immediate team (this year we've grown to 16) is repeating last year's bring and share Christmas lunch meeting. We have a meeting room booked for 2 hours and everyone brings something. So it's affordable for all.

In the new year we will go out for lunch somewhere (a local italian does lunch for under £10). The food will be better a cheaper, and it will brighten up Jan/Feb!

Out company does a Christmas night with meal and drinks at a hotel or golf club but our small team have no desire to go to this always spend a few hours over lunch at a local restaurant and it's paid for by our manager.

Barbeasty bring and share lunches are such a good idea; at my previous workplace we always did one on Christmas Eve if we were in.

I'm going to this year's party - not drinking though as will be 7 months pregnant. I thought since I wouldn't be going next year I'd go! It's not cheap and it's only a meal in the pub. Good job I like my colleagues!
