Roboreptile - how good are they?

DS has suddenly decided he'd like one for Xmas. They seem to have come down to around £50 in most places - are they worth that much though, and can it walk on most surfaces?

i dont know about roboreptile but we had roborapter and he was NOT worth £90. he doesnt properly follow the laser or walk around objects...in fact he was quite unstable. he didnt like walking on carpet or patio (bought in summer), just about ok on wooden floor. he was a bit rubbish really.

he did however, chase the toddler around and roar a lot.

They're pants. IMHO

We got a roboraptor last Christmas. He walks well on all the surfaces in our house (thinnish carpet and quarry tiles). I thought the boys would tire of him very quickly, but they have played with him regularly all year: definitely one of the big hits last year.

I think it's really boring btw, and was tired of it after about 3.5 minutes. But I'm not a 7 yr-old boy, am I?

DS2 would like another one this year! He's not getting one, but may get some of the small 'bots.

Thanks all - think I might wait and see if they get reduced even more after Xmas.

i knew i'd spelt roboraptor wrong, roisin you put me to shame. does yours do the laser thing then? ours never did. im very shallow too, i didnt like the colour much, we have the white plastic looking one, they didnt bring out the other ones until later.

i never actually meant to buy it, i'd bought a dinosaur thing from ebay which didnt work and roboraptor was a last minute dash to avoid ds's disappointment as i'd caught him peeping at the dinosaur a week or so earlier.

My mum bought a roboraptor in January this year for £15 (M&S I think it was, trying to clear out seasonal stock) - can you fob him off with a gift voucher or is that cruel? My mum gave hers to my nephew (8) who played with it a couple of times and has advertised it in the local shop this week!

I nearly bought ds1 this when I saw it in Comet for £60 reduced from £90. I phoned dh to ask his opinion and he talked me out of it. I'm quite glad I didn't get it now. Can you belive £90 for something like that??

TwoToTango · 03/12/2006 12:11

Thanks Stockingsofdinosaurs - it will be an IOU and a trip to M&S in the sales for me

If its any help... I have just been in M&S and they are now selling them for £49.50. And they had loads!!

BTW we have a roboraptor which my ds (who is 5.5) adores, but he doesn't use the remote control!
