Have just got back from ours, total chaos but thats another story.

It was 20p to get in, for kids aswell as adults, drinks and crisps and stuff was generally 10p and 20p and then there were stalls with bits and bobs on ranging from 50p to £3.

Anyway, you could visit santa too, how much do you think it should be ?

And the pressie dd got cost about 50p, which is my real gripe about paying £2 on top of the entrance fee.

WonderCod · 01/12/2006 23:06

oh fgs dont go

WigWamBam · 01/12/2006 23:07

I wouldn't not go; dd looks forward to it.

Doesn't mean I have to like being ripped off though.

nutcracker · 01/12/2006 23:08

How can you not go when they bombard the kids with leaflets for it for weeks before, have them making stuff for it etc etc. I mean I am a moaning old cow but am not that mean.

I just think that they should at least give you a list of prices before hand so you can say right johnny, you can have a go on xyz and then thats it.

are you all moaning about School Fairs?? do you realise how much effort goes into these events? for your children??

WonderCod · 01/12/2006 23:10

mjoaning old cow

myrrhthamoo · 01/12/2006 23:11

Hula - who are these strange unaccompanied adults who want to see Santa? That's bizarre !

nutcracker · 01/12/2006 23:11

Yes obviously, but still don't see the need for them to be so money grabbing especially as the majority of the stuff on sale at ours was donated by parents in the first place.

OP posts:
WonderCod · 01/12/2006 23:12

er nutty youve mised hte point!!! you coante it to raise money
its not a swap shop

southeastastra · 01/12/2006 23:13

blimey! you lot moan about anything!

unknownrebelbang · 01/12/2006 23:13

Lol, that caught my eye too.

southeastastra · 01/12/2006 23:13

picky, picky

unknownrebelbang · 01/12/2006 23:13

Ooops, I meant about the unaccompanied adults.

nutcracker · 01/12/2006 23:15

Actually I didn't donate anything. Dd asked me to let her take a bottle of wine and i said no, if i buy wine it's for me to drink, and she moaned because they'd been told if they took one in they would get a sweet, so i told her i'd give her a sweet for doing nothing lol.

I wasn't the only person there moaning about it, the majority of people were, as nearly every day fpr the past 2 weeks the book bags have been full of letters which require money.

OP posts:
WonderCod · 01/12/2006 23:15

thank god i left hte midlands

nutcracker · 01/12/2006 23:16

Fine i am picky, just don'tt hink it is fair to people who really cannot afford it.

I'll tell the kids they can't go next year and then i won't be able to moan about it.

OP posts:
southeastastra · 01/12/2006 23:21

stop moaning, i'm sure you could afford a few quid for the school fair!

emkana · 01/12/2006 23:22

suzywong anyone?

The most unlikely threads can just go "whoooosh" sometimes, can't they?

nutcracker · 01/12/2006 23:22

Oh really, thats why i had to borrow the money then !

I had a total of £1.32 to take them, and so borrowed a fiver off my mum.

When you know what your on about then feel free to carry on.

OP posts:
nutcracker · 01/12/2006 23:24

And for anyone who is gonna post "well it's not worth borrwing money to take them", cos i know someone will.

They used to have the fairs on a saturday and so i didn't go, kids didn't see what they were missing and so it wasn't a problem. Now they have changed it to Fridays, at 3pm so you pick up your kids early and go straight there.

What was I supposed to do, walk my kids past the queue of other kids waiting happily to go in ?

OP posts:
southeastastra · 01/12/2006 23:29

would you get involved with the organising of one?

nutcracker · 01/12/2006 23:30

Well all the meetings are in the evening so no as I have no babysitter.

Anyway, wouldn't make it any cheaper would it.

OP posts:
nutcracker · 01/12/2006 23:33

Couldn't have helped at actual event either as Ds was with me.

fussymummy · 01/12/2006 23:38

We have our school bazaar tomorrow.

I've been up the school today, helping to set up.

Loads of lovely things have been donated.

Costs 50p to get in.

I can't quite believe, and really don't know whose idea it was, but there are TWO, yes TWO, Santas grottos!!!!!!!

Both look absolutely beautiful, loads of time and effort been spent on them.

Apparantly, the reasoning behind this, is that because the queue is always so long to see santa, they thought they'd have TWO!!!!!

Theres going to be some explaining to do, to lots of very confused kids!!!!

southeastastra · 01/12/2006 23:42

if you don't like it join in with the organisation of it. don't just sit there critizising it
