Christmas Outfit

Last year DD and I decided to wear pretty dresses for Christmas lunch, DH grudgingly (under the threat of a christmas jumper) put on a shirt instead of scruffy t-shirt and MIL was very impressed and asked if we can do it again this year. she likes to brag to her friends about it

Does anyone else choose a nice Christmas outfit? I need to convince DH that I am normal in treating myself to a new dress! And what do we think of this dress - www.lindybop.co.uk/dresses-c1/vanessa-cotton-midnight-poppy-wiggle-dress-p1883

Hmm I'm conflicted here because for me Christmas is all about the loungewear but I wore that dress to a wedding recently and loved it! I'm very hourglass and booby and I felt really good in it. I bloody love Lindybop.

What did you choose for DD?

glenthebattleostrich · 03/10/2015 20:22

Mine arrived today too.

The dress is a bit tight but gorgeous and will inspire my October shred. Can't wait to wear it. DD adores her dress. It is beautifully made.

I chose the mini audrey for DD. Will boot up the laptop and link.

We always dress up. I am very organised in the kitchen with a time sheet and just reset buzzer for the next step.
I have bought This Kimono that I will wear over black trousers and a Tshirt as I waft elegantly around ( trailing the fringes in the gravy knowing me )

fastdaytears · 03/10/2015 20:31

You'll both look awesome.

May as well have a little look around Lindybop myself now you've mentioned it! See what's new in that I can come up with an excuse to buy...

This is DD's dress. It is gorgeous. The pictures on the site don't do it justice.

I love that Kimono Trumpton (and your name!). I may need to take MIL to M&S to get one (she gets a discount there). I also do the list and reminders on my phone, people laugh at me but in 3 years of hosting I am yet to get the lunch on the table late! Last year we hosted Christmas Eve drinks too and my friends laughed at my list on the wall. Gits!

I have been hosting Christmas for 30 years ever since I was 37 weeks with Dc3 and having had two very quick labours didn't want to risk a 2 hour journey to MILs

Never had a bad meal yet ( touch wood ) and I even let MIL bring her revolting Paxo stuffing to serve alongside my lovely homemade sausage meat and walnut forcemeat !
I hope your mum likes the kimono ,it comes up very large by the way.

I love my time sheet...let them laugh ! Gits that they are !

Trumpton · 03/10/2015 21:15

Having re read your post you are taking your MIL to use her discount not to buy her one !
Good idea . I got mine with 20% off and I had a £5 voucher so paid £39 .

I always like to wear something a bit special, either a dress or nice top and trousers but couldn't imagine wearing a dress that fitted, especially if it's already tight. Can't imagine being comfortable sitting around in it, especially after dinner.

Scarydinosaurs · 04/10/2015 03:03

I'm getting tartan skirts for DDs here

www.etsy.com/listing/249267854/girls-skirt-age-18mth-2yrs

And maybe a nice red dress for myself.

Zorion · 04/10/2015 08:20

We've always dressed up but the ILs never do. This Christmas we will be with them so whilst I won't do DS in the full Prince-George long socks, I will put him in his posh cords and a shirt, probably a nice Christmas intarsia cardigan.

My outfit is a loose-ish gold lurex top from Reiss tucked into a leather cutwork midi skirt. Not too fitted and not too glitzy but I will still feel like I've made an effort! DH has a tartan shirt he will dig out.

glenthebattleostrich · 04/10/2015 10:50

I do get your point All Pizzas but by Christmas I intend the dress to be a bit loose. I'm low carbing and starting Shred in preparation (I've put on 1.5 stones in 2 months so it will be going) and because I don't like the weight I'm at. The dress is giving me a little push to do it.

Trumpton, no one would dare bring paxo into my house at Christmas, they would be eating lunch on the driveway!

That skirt is lovely Scary.

I have also purchased www.aliexpress.com/item/Creative-Christmas-Accessories-Home-Decoration-Kitchen-Adult-Apron-Family-Dinner-Santa-Household-Party-Supplies/32465471613.html to protect the pretty dress Grin

glen Lindybop has me addicted to finding matching dresses!!

What are the sizes like? I was a Topshop 6/8 pre DD2, and am now a 8/10 but exercising to try and tone up and be stronger (don't think I'll ever be a 6/8 again) but not quite sure what size I am anywhere anymore.

glenthebattleostrich · 04/10/2015 14:29

They do a gorgeous dress for me which would match the one I bought DD which I'm so tempted to order too. The only reason I went with the dress I chose is I have a gorgeous pair of Mary Jane's which will look brilliant with it. I am tempted to order the other one too though!

I find them average fitting if that makes sense, so very true to size. I'd probably go for a 10 if I were you as they aren't forgiving!

JasperDamerel · 04/10/2015 17:56

DD wants one of the navy party dresses for her birthday, so I might get it for her.

I am hoping to find a nice fairisle jumper dress for comfort and prettiness but no particular glamour.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/10/2015 18:15

I have some M&S brocade leggings that I wore last Christmas (they're black) so I'll find a nice Christmassey top for cooking/wafting about in then a smarter one to eat in.

I am not a dress person but equally I couldn't spend the day in joggers or PJs.

I can't wear heels I'd be on my bum so I'll find some nice shoes (or dig out a pair I bought in Primark , they are brocadey black................)

Ooh. I have the bottom half sorted. I have a really nice black/white/grey winter scene sequins top so I can now justify looking for my Christmas Top. Xmas Grin

BiddyPop · 05/10/2015 13:01

We always have Mass in church in the morning so need to be reasonably dressed for that. And always have some visits to family (either close family "down home" or extended family if staying in our own house). I tend to wear comfortable but nice things - often a wool dress from M&S or similar.

This year, we are travelling again so I have to change my plans. But I got a nice new woolen dress with a lovely pattern on it that might work very well. I will have my jeans and Christmas Pudding jumper (from Next a couple of years ago) for Christmas Eve. And a mix of smart casual outfits for the rest of the trip - smart enough to look nice but casual enough to do a lot in kitchens or go for a long walk on the beach or in the woods locally. And mostly wearing nice boots on my feet, but bringing a pair of heels for Christmas Day itself.
