I buy a holly wreath from the stall in the market. Just holly with berries and I might add some red ribbon. I love the traditional christmas greenery - I also wreath ivy and holly everywhere inside the house.

WonderCod · 01/12/2006 09:32

i am too idel for that

I've got to make about 30 for the school christmas fair next weekend. Did the same last year and sold every single one (looks very smug with self). We live near a river so loads of willow. Just get a branch and bend round into a cirle. Wrap some ivy round it (small leaves look best) and a bit of ribbon (I used stuff from ikea with little stars last year - tinsel OK but more OTT). And thats it. They look fab.

I want to get one this year.

But how do I hang it on the door? (I don't want to bag a nail in obviously)

I like the sound of Katherines 'bend a bit of willow' wreath...now..where might I find a willow tree in Plymouth city centre???

joelallie · 01/12/2006 15:37

Thin thread through the wreath. Pass it over the top of the door and stick it with (loads of ) sellotape on the inside. Works fine.

FiveGoldenFIMBOs · 01/12/2006 16:10

Never had one. How do you hang one on a upvc front door?

kickassangel · 01/12/2006 16:29

home made willow woven with home made rush decorations!

yep, made by me.

i shall just toddle off & knit some lentils whilst i warm my cosy sandal wearing feet in front of my real fire.
(actually desperately jealous of cod's modern wreath. d'ya think dh would get me the modern houe to go wit it?)

zippitippitoes · 01/12/2006 16:33

never had one but if we did I think it would have to be smething like feathers so that it did least damge oif lobbed at the front window..

do they represent something like the completeness of the year

Mercy · 01/12/2006 16:33

Thanks, will have a look in Homebase. And Woollies too.

(Malory, you are turning into Cod you know!)

snowydelight · 01/12/2006 16:36

DH made a lovely one with holly from the garden last year. He was very proud of his "Blue Peter moment"!

fireflyxmasfairylights2 · 01/12/2006 16:39

My front door has a glass pane on it... how could I attach a wreath to it?? I'd love to have one!!

Mercy · 01/12/2006 16:45

zippi, here's a brief explanation re wreaths .

There are a number of Pagan Mnetters could explain further/find better sites (sorry if that's the wrong term btw!) I find it interesting too.
