Here's a new (hopefully going to turn into a tradition) for us - dd asked if she can make a gingerbread man for father christmas and we're going to ice on a beard etc

Come on, please cheer me up I've been a miserable cow all week....

buda, my MIL is a soap addict as well, but she has been told No tv until at least 6pm! I can just imagine her going upstairs and sneaking into our room to watch it there!. Still it would keep her out of my way

Christmas starts for us with the Christingle service on Christmas Eve and then we normally pop into a neighbour's for mulled wineand mince pies. When we gtet home we put out carrot and mince pie for Santa and Rudolph, also we make his landing strip on the lawn with tea lights in jam jars and scatter some reindeer food around. It is lovely to look out the bedroom windows and see the tea lights twinkling. We also always read the Night before Christmas on Christmas Eve - this year DD1 has asked to do it because she has memorised it specially. I also have a new traditon (sic) this year - I have bought JRR Tolkien's Letters from Father Christmas (£4.99 Bookpeople) and am reading them one letter a night in the run up to Christmas (there's about three weeks' worth).
I always make Nigella's Christmas muffins on Christmas morning and we always have champagne while opening the presents.

Growing up in Australia we always went up to the big playing fields accross the road and run under the enormous sprinklers in our cozzies after lunch!

Now, we have a birthday cake for Jesus for breakfast.
