i have one which was a freebie, not sure if i should put it up though

Snowstorm · 30/11/2006 21:41

I wouldn't have them but I don't think they are naff. They used to be very popular in Germany (I seem to recall from my childhood).

sunnysideup · 30/11/2006 22:00

well maybe none of you live where I used to then - houses completely draped in flashing lights usually with a lighted scene of santa climbing the wall toward the chimney pot, signs stuck in the front garden saying SANTA STOP HERE I HAVE BEEN GOOD, even one house with an illuminated penny farthing bike (WHY?) and probably even blue painted trees as well....

how classy is a simple candle arch in the window, go for it there are cheesier things done in the name of christmas you know....

FrannyandZooey · 30/11/2006 22:01

SSU it sounds suspiciously like where I live, that's for sure

we have the penny farthing bike round the corner

LieselVonGiftwrapp · 30/11/2006 22:02

Naff naff naff

Bozza · 30/11/2006 22:03

Hmm I'm sitting on the fence on this one.

I am bored with my current Christmas decs but don't which route to go forward...

LemonTart · 30/11/2006 22:04

ok - so what is a cool CHristmas window "thing" then all you stylish netters??
We don?t have an arch, in fact don?t have any window stuff so after some inspiration

FrannyandZooey · 30/11/2006 22:08

Oh there is no such thing as cool at Christmas

just go for it and enjoy the cheese

WonderCod · 01/12/2006 09:26

we have a double row of ice blue lights that go perfetly around the shape of the front of our house.

simple and much admired aby all

joelallie · 01/12/2006 09:33

I beleive they are called Menorah and they are a Jewish symbol. So my mil tells me. Assuming that you are talking about the same thing I'm thinking about...

isn't the arch of candles from Scandanavian winter celebration traditions which centre around St Lucia's Day and then leads up to Christmas celebrations?
