It's her birthday next week and originally wanted cool cards, some moshi monster figures and a pair of red wellies. And a mobile phone.

Now (after ordering the cool cards and figures and grandparents giving her money to buy red wellies) she has asked for an iPod.

So I found a second hand one, refurbished and I'm giving her that with the figures for her birthday.

The cool cards will be kept for Xmas along with the planetarium I found online. Her sister has bought her a Spiderman duvet for her birthday.

I have no idea what to get for Xmas. If I can afford a refurb laptop I may get that but money is tight.

What are you getting your dds?

Coffee I am watching with interest as I too have a DD who will be 10 in October, so two presents to find!

Birthday is a new bike as she has seriously out grown the existing one.

Christmas ideas are very limited. So far:
Playmobil (still not out grown and with a much younger brother I regret mistake of not buying last year)
Some sort of experience day, like zoo keeper
A really nice blanket (suddenly realised she's had hers for a long time, it's covered in Disney princesses)

Totally stumped otherwise......

ChilliMum · 16/09/2015 10:15

Oooh shamelessly place marking as I too have a nearly 10 dd and absolutely no ideas for bday or Xmas and am interested in what others are getting.

PermetsTu · 16/09/2015 10:19

DD said in an ideal world she'd like a pogo stick and a diablo Smile We're going to give those ideas to wider family.

We're getting her a metal detector (she wants to be an archaeologist).

steppemum · 16/09/2015 10:25

Can you link to the zoo keeper Arthur, dd would love that.

CakeNinja · 16/09/2015 11:33

When dd1 was ten at Christmas, she got a ds game (tomagatchi life or something!?), a new grown up set of bedding she's asked for for ages but I said no because it was too expensive just for no reason, mine craft paper sets, Lego sets, perfume, cinema vouchers, pretty fairy lights for her room, boots, lots of random other items.
She never really answers when I ask if there's anything she'd like. Unlike her sister who usually has a list!

ArthurChristmas · 16/09/2015 11:44

I can't link I am afraid (useless new member) but I'm currently looking at zoo keeper at Bristol Zoo. I suspect however they all do it, she is also mad on owls and there are a few places out there that will do similar feeding/ handling days!

steppemum · 16/09/2015 12:29

thanks arthur

My dd is 11 in December. She already has a tablet (to play minecraft), a ds with animal crossing game and tomodochi life.

Minecraft has completely taken over.. She's had an early b'day present this year, her dad's old laptop. We gave it to her last month and she plays on it downstairs in our lounge.

However, she has 3 younger siblings and she's quite a young nearly 11yr old. She's still playing with Lego friends, her sisters Lego Cinderella castle and carriage. She's asks for Elsa's Lego palace for Xmas. She also plays with playmobil most days too.

So, for her b'day she'll get something smallish.. I've already began buying minecraft soft plush toys from eBay in China! I'll collect them all, they're only £3?each.. And a Lego minecraft set (fake from China).

Xmas.. I'll give her the Elsa Lego palace and some minecraft personalised crap which she'll adore.

I did her bedroom last year.. Funky string lights from Tiger were a big hit and an IKEA desk full of art stuff. She's due a bigger bicycle, but we won't buy a new one.. We'll look out for a secondhand one next spring.

I bought her new clothes from last month from Boden.. Gorgeous tartan dress (Johnny B range) and a navy Fairisle cardigan (mini Boden range).. Tartan leggings, denim skirt and 2 long sleeve slub tops.. She looks great. She needs boots, but I'll get her those.

I'll get her a onesie too for Xmas. Probably a playmobil small set too.

Thinking ahead.. She'll be walking to senior school next September so she'll need a mobile phone.. Will probably give her my current old iPhone and get myself a new one. But we'll see, it's a whole off yet.

Partybugs · 16/09/2015 14:34

Oh, and I found that there's a Harry Potter book that's illustrated for £15 from Amazon UK.

Partybugs · 16/09/2015 14:35

The playmobil set I've got is the princess carry box that reduced to £10 on Amazon last week.

BathshebaDarkstone · 16/09/2015 14:36

Ami Gami and anything Frozen.

IsaJess · 16/09/2015 19:17

Arthur, my DD1 did the junior keeper experience at Bristol Zoo in August and absolutely loved it :-)

Buttercupsandaisies · 16/09/2015 19:41

Did is almost 10 and has recently had or is getting

Sewing machine ...not sew cool as we've had that and it's rubbish
Gymnastic mat
Karaoke machine
Roller blades with light up wheels
Lego friends
Proper desk

This year will be a bike but the gym mat was our best hit yet

mareseatoatsanddoeseatoats · 16/09/2015 20:48

i need some ideas for stocking fillers please for 10yo dd. So far have bought a Mug Cakes book and mug, some bath bombs and a hoody she's been after.

She likes cooking and making stuff but don't really want any more craft kits as still have a few to get through.

mareseatoatsanddoeseatoats · 16/09/2015 20:49

Sorry thats all i've bought her so far, didn't mean the hoody was a stocking filler!

Twolefttoes · 16/09/2015 20:55

We're getting dsd 10 a popcorn maker and various flavours to make. We all love popcorn, so hoping it will be a hit. Also getting her a gymnastic twirling ribbon and a straws connecter set. Struggling for main present though.

onehellofaride · 17/09/2015 12:08

two which popcorn machine are you getting? I'm looking for one for DSS.

nancy75 · 17/09/2015 12:13

DD 10 has asked for a sewing machine, so I am getting that with a sewing box filled with bits of material, maybe a couple of easy patterns, some buttons and other sewing related stuff.

She has also asked for Lego elves - and doh vinci

I don't buy stocking fillers as such (I have enough rubbish without adding to it!) Her stocking is usually sweets and books

Twolefttoes · 17/09/2015 13:45

one I have a few saved on my amazon wish list but not decided on which one yet, they are about £15 with good reviews.

Buttercupsandaisies · 17/09/2015 18:17

I also highly recommend a candy floss maker. My dds love theirs and it comes out at every family event!

ArthurChristmas · 17/09/2015 18:24

Isajess just back here. Thanks for letting me know, I was dithering so that's decided!

happsymum · 18/09/2015 08:19

Buttercup do you know which candy floss machine you got? Think could b something my dd would love too! ( yay - one gift decided on)

IsaJess · 18/09/2015 08:26

Arthur: here's a review of the experience I put on another post...

DD1 (8) did the junior keeper experience at Bristol Zoo in August.
It's the only one she's done so we've nothing to compare it too, but she loved every second.
The keeper who worked with her was fantastic and took the time to answer her millions of questions.
She started by sorting out the hissing cockroaches - changing food, spraying their soil with water etc. Then did the same for Giant African landsnails. Then she had to catch live hoppers to feed to a lizard.
Then she prepared the food and feed Meerkats. Ditto Lemurs.
Finally she feed the fur seals which involved getting them to do tricks.
The experience lasted 2hrs.
For her, it was perfect :-)

Buttercupsandaisies · 19/09/2015 08:48

Happy - this one

www.amazon.co.uk/Gourmet-Gadgetry-Candy-Floss-Maker/dp/B00AN2N5AC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1442648831&sr=8-1&keywords=candy+floss+maker

I highly recommend it, we've used it loss and when friends come to tea it's always a hit!

happsymum · 19/09/2015 11:26

Thank you! Added to my Amazon basket ready for payday Grin @ discounted price atm too! Could you tell me, Can you use other sugar or does it have to be the candy floss sugar each time?
