Advent calendar for 12 year old boy

I have been tasked with finding advent calendars for 3 boys aged 4, 7 and 12 for £10 each. I have got the 2 youngers the Playmobil ones on offer at Amazon, but the oldest is too old for them.

I know the lego one is good but that is out of the budget. Any ideas please?

I love advent calendars. If not Lego 12 year olds are hard to buy for as most things they want are not cheap.

I made one for my two boys - with 24 envelopes and got packs of cheap pokemon cards from ebay. Mounted onto a board with numbers written on.

Have a look on pinterest.

Thanks 18, if it was me I would go pintrest all the way, Its for an old lady to give to her nephews who dont live anywhere near me so somehing boxed style would be ideal. I guess I need something like a Lynx advent calender LOL!

Someone suggested buying the minecraft mini figure cubes and stack them up into s fab Xmas tree shape.. 24 of them.. But 24x£3.99 is bonkers!

How about £1 ish jokes from eBay to open every day.. Eg fake dog poo, fake cigarette, fake blood etc

I have done Lego advent for my 3 for the last few years, but refuse to pay the bonkers prices.

My method requires a bit of prep, but can then be sent ready labelled/boxed.

I buy a seasonal Lego set (eg snowman/Rudolph - usually £7-8 ish), photocopy the instruction sheet and divide it up into 1 or 2 steps a day. Separate out the relevant bricks, and wrap up in tissue paper along with the instruction for that day.

My dc (a bit younger at 11 and 9) love it, and part of the excitement is trying to guess what they are building (I don't hand over whole instructions, they only see it bit by bit).

It does take effort, but is worth it, imo.

The beauty of my Methodist you can choose any Lego kit in your price range. If you don't mind it not being themed, the Yellow Racers set has been selling for about£10 on Amazon recently, which is a bargain.

Ha! Typos galore, as always Grin

Argos do 3 for 2 on all toys usually in October. The Lego advent calenders are included so normally I buy some toys I would bought any way and got the Lego one free.x
