Dressing Table for DD 6yrs?

DD is 6 and has asked Father Christmas for a new dressing table (more grown up than her plastic pink and purple one - mostly broken by DS!).
I have found some white ones at John Lewis, Letterbox and GLTC (Vertbaudet's is already out of stock!) but DH thinks that they are too small and she won't get the use out of them. (He also doesn't think furniture is a very good Christmas present anyway). They aren't cheap (just over ?100)so I don't want to get something that she will think is too childish next year which I can't pass down to DS!

Has anyone got one of these? What age do girls use them until?

Aspace do a really lovely one, plus a couple that are more desk like but should still appeal (and might be more useful long term re homework) but they are quite expensive.

TBH I'd get a desk or table (maybe in white or a girly colour) and get a stool and a mirror to go with it - it'll last longer and they're cheaper to buy anyway.
Pink one in Argos.
wooden child's desk in Ikea

Actually Argos have a flatpack Disney Princess one for £50 that might last just long enough...

We've got the IKEA Diktad that MrsB has linked to - there is a mirror unit to match that has a litle tray - we love it and I would recommend that.

We have an IKEA childs bamboo chair at it - but they also do a matching wooden chair which looks lovely.

DD sits at it drswing and making cards - and she's got her haorbrush, pefume etc in the mirror's tray - so it works as a desk and a dresiing table.,

thanks for all your suggestions - she's got a desk built into her bunk bed so I really wanted something a bit smaller. Need to think about it some more!

The themed one is classed as 3 - 7yrs - do they get more sophisticated by 7 (she is a young six)? I saw a Bang on the Door one for £49.99 at MailOrderExpress - maybe that would last a bit longer?

Anyone with older girls to help?
