Yorkie, I would love to stick my head under the duvet, my fingers in my ears, and not come out until January. Then I think of you ...

Yorkiegirl, I am new (ish) to MN but tortoise has told me some bits about you and what you have gone through this year. I can see why you would not want to get in the Christmas mood.

I am not going to say you should or should not. But how would your DH wanted you to be at Christmas? How were your Christmas`s? I think he would want you to be happy and do things as you would and remember him when you do those things.

He is always going to be on your mind every year so why not have those times as happy ones and not sad ones.

I know its easier said than done. but I really don't think he would want you to be sad but happy and thinking of all the happy times you had.

I will be thinking of you. I had a hard Christmas last year. My first one on my own with 3 DC and after a really fab one the year before. It even snowed on Christmas day on my fab year. This year I am going to try my best for my DC.

I hope it all goes well for you.

I'm actually feeling VERY festive - and when I spread it around, I'm sure my excitement will be catching!!!!!

COS SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN!!!!!

KBear · 18/11/2006 23:20

don't peak too early soapbox, you've got a lot of organising to do!!!!

soapbox · 18/11/2006 23:33

LOL - but I know EXACTLY what all you fabulous mumsnetters are planning - and a bit of organisation should never get in the way of Santa and his sleigh

I didn't think you'd manage to keep away for a whole weekend!!

soapbox · 18/11/2006 23:42

LOL - I had to choose a short thread though - can't load the big ones!

I hope people are keeping the other one bumped though

I'm almost pooping my pants it is so exciting - so little wonder I can't keep away!

In 1995 I had twins. One died, as expected from heart scans, in late November. The other one was born healthy but nearly died of bronchiolitis over her first Christmas (in hospital). We nearly lost 2 babies in 3 weeks. I know this doesn't compare with losing a partner, but looking back now on the footage of dd1 (then just 3) opening her presents with my rather dull parents is the thing that still makes me cry. She was very young but our sad Christmas had a long lasting negative effect on her. Have now sworn to be as festive as possible - after all have learnt that life can be all too short and we need to participate.
