I've just been to buy a laminator and the dd's are going to make everybody their own individual Christmas dinner placemats - we have 13 for Christmas Day and I just thought it would be a nice idea.

we are using photos of the guests, things they are interested in, and of course the tesco catalogue cut up.

dd is also giving one to her teacher!

THATS SUCH A FAB IDEA JUST TOLD dh AND HE SAID ITS LOVELY IDEA BUT BE CAREFUL WHICH PICS YOU CHOOSE AS APPARENTLY LAMINATOR CAN DESTROY CERTAIN IMAGES OR SOMETHING..i DONT KNOW HE IS THE TECHNO HEAD.

Have you tried it yet? I saw it advertised and wondered if it was good.

I know that you can't use things like scan photos but I was just going to go through all our photos that are stored on the computer and print some off on plain paper to use.

the dd's are practising and they look fab!

We use our laminator a lot. We make placemats, calendars, We have make loads of activities, (calendars that you put the date and weather words up) games etc.

one of the best pressies I ever got.

What sort of things can't you laminate?

Katherine · 17/11/2006 18:39

The only stuff that would be damaged would be stuff on heat sensitive paper I'd have thought.

I got a laminator last christmas and it sat on top of the cupboard for 9 months. Then I had the idea of laminating leaves to put in party bags after a nature party. They looked fab and so far none have lost their colour or anything. Thinking of making some into mobiles. Expect they would work really well with pressed flowers too. Never thought of placemats. Excellent idea. Might do some for Grannie using kids art work.

Hey just thought - you could get the kids to draw pictures of the people and use cut out letters rather than photos
