Would you take a 13 month old to see Santa?

We were wondering if it would be worth taking DS to see a Santa this year, seeing as he's no idea who Santa is. He's not fazed by strangers, or beards. I think it's probably better waiting till next year

No but then I a nasty old hag and didn't get ds christmas presents at that age either

MamaG · 14/11/2006 13:21

wait

HuwEdwards · 14/11/2006 13:21

No, it will be completely underwhelming for him....conversely the mad sight of a man dressed up might make him hysterical....

Bellie · 14/11/2006 13:22

we took dd at 13 months - she was dead excited - then she met him and screamed the place down!!

shazronnie · 14/11/2006 13:24

why bother queueing and paying for an experience he will not remember and will either hate or be nonplussed about?

ConnieLingus · 14/11/2006 13:24

Think we'll wait. Poor DS will probably think it's another one of his relatives he rarely sees!

my dd's godmother is taking her to see santa at selfridges as a christmas present. I thought it was a good idea but now your thread is making me have second thoughts

ConnieLingus · 14/11/2006 13:34

No - please don't change your mind on my account! YOur DD might react totally differently to DS.

probably more likely to be frightened next year not this, but he won't get much out of it either.

Raggydoll · 14/11/2006 14:02

we took ds - he was completly underwhelmed but his nan and I had a wonderful time. oh yes and we have the photo!

nappyaddict · 15/11/2006 15:43

i am taking ds who is only going to be 6 months at xmas ... no he won't remember but the photo will be nice to look back on and to be honest i am so excited about his first xmas i am also buying him quite a few presents

EllieHsMum · 16/11/2006 07:51

nappyaddict I with you on this one. I am so excited my daughter is 7 months at Xmas & we are taking her to see Santa. Can't wait, we are more excited about this christmas that we imagined. We also bought her more than we originally planned.

Flossam · 16/11/2006 07:57

I did. I thought I was a bit keen untill I found out my friend had taken hers the year before - at 4 weeks old!

aliceband · 16/11/2006 07:58

Still got the photo, my ds, now just 12, nearly crying, but still a lovely photo.

nappyaddict · 17/11/2006 14:40

i think my plans to see santa are off. the CSA told me they would sort this thing out with my ex at the beginning of november so i was hoping to have saved quite a bit by xmas, but now it seems they are taking longer. looks like xmas won't be as exciting as i had hoped i guess i am lucky that ds won't remember at only 6 months though. i found a couple of good things at the carboot for him though so luckily he still has a few things to open off me. i hate the fact that all his presents are off my mum and dad. i know they are excited cos he is their first grandchild but it makes me feel inadequate that they can buy him so much and i can't let's hope i get to visit santa next year, oh and DS too of course!!

Surfermum · 17/11/2006 14:56

We didn't take dd the first year when she was 7 months, I didn't see any point then as she would have had no idea what was going on.

We did take her the following year when she was 19 months, but it was just to a local charity shop who had Santa in there one Saturday afternoon and it was £1.50 towards the charity. She was a little nervous and I thought hadn't really taken it in until about 6 months later when we went back in the shop and she kept asking where Father Christmas was.
