90 yr old Gran?? She can't see well so doesn't read, do puzzles etc.I always seem to get her edibles & she has moaned in the past that that is all she gets from everyone. My 2 cousins live in Sydney so they have the monopoly on flowers. If onlt here was a web site called Grans-R-us!

What about a nice cardigan or blouse and a nice new leather purse or nice cosey dressing gown

southeastastra · 10/11/2006 21:04

get the children to draw a picture - grans love them

southeastastra · 10/11/2006 21:05

whoops just realised she doesn't see well, do bright pictures

chocolateshoes · 10/11/2006 21:06

My parents are giving her a nightie & dress gown. And I often get cardies although she may have to have another. I'll have a look on M&S website. Purse is a good idea - worth thinking about. Thanks for your ideas!

She blew up her microwave & doesn't want another - she's not into modern stuff so wouldn't want CDs etc. TV is as tech as she goes! Cashmere bed socks a good idea!

MIL (93) will be getting framed photo of 3 youngest DC. Oldest 3 will buy Granny a tin of shortbread, sherry, flowers or plant....That's what they've always bought for her. The main pressie is seeing all 6 DC together!

There's no chance of my gran seeing her Dcs as 2 are in Oz & we will visit but it won't be til the New Year as we are at the other end of the country from her. Is a shame.
Have just found quite a good old lady type cardy on M&S website.

I think you could make her a Christmas card with a 16 mo. Paint handprints or something. And she would surely love that. Would she like some nice soap, talc etc? Some of the ranges in M&S are nice for old ladies.

LOL chocolateshoes. You will be cursing me when you are trying to clean paint off the fridge and there are glitter sparkles all the way up the stairs.

My Gran is in a nursing home and I find it very difficult knowing what to buy for her. I tend to buy things like:

bed jacket/dressing gown
nightdresses
toiletries
bird feeder/birdtable (for outside her window as she loves watching the birds feeding)
plants

Story cds or something from her generation, like Singalonga Max!

ANonnyMouse · 11/11/2006 20:20

box of greetings cards covering all occasions for the forthcoming year plus books of stamps.

chocolateshoes · 12/11/2006 20:17

the greeting cards is a good idea. Did'nt know they existed to be honest. Wonder where to look?
