Father Christmas, Stockings, Under Tree, Mum & Dad..... who gives what?

We went well over the top last year and I'm keen to redress the balance whilst DS is small enough not to notice the difference. When I was litle, we always had one "big" prezzie and a bag of assorted always unwrapped little goodies from Santa in our bedrooms, no stockings and if I remember right suspiciously no presents from Mum & Dad but other family presents under the tree. DH had stockings in his bedroom from Santa with only little things (always wrapped) and big presents from family inc parents under tree. So, who gives what in your house?

in out house it was stockings from santa (even when no longer a believer)
present/s under tree from mum & dad etc
and i think we'll do the same

Father Christmas leaves stockings- small presents, often silly/ jokey things.

Big presents under tree from named people.

Think it important that dd learns to say thankyou appropriately- if FC has given all the presents, then no-one gets thanks.

Tree gives a small but wrapped present on Boxing Day.

FC fills stockings for the LOs only, all other presents are under the tree and are to and from named people, including mum and dad.

how weird!!!!! i was wondering that myself what other people do! when i was little we all believed in fc, obviously! but there were never any unmarked presents, they all came from someone! and we never questioned it. i was wondering what to do this year cos i thought our old way didnt really make sense and my ds asks so many qu i wanted it all to add up for him! i have already told him that he will have to buy a pressie for his sister and give it to me so i acn send it to fc who then decides if they have been good enough for him to deliver it! does that sound weird? i also thought i would say their stockings are from fc and then leave a few unmarked presents round the tree as extras from fc cos they have been 'so good'!!!!!

we have a big present sitting on the floor not wrapped, i love seeing their face when they come down in the morning and they see their main present and then we have a small pile of presents to unwrap for them and a stocking by the fireplace filled with little stocking fillers from bubbles to mini puzzles a tangerine and a 50p

nikkie · 10/11/2006 21:01

stockings from FC and a couple of pressies under the tree from FC
Main pressie from me and others from sister and other family under the tree.

Kidstrack · 10/11/2006 21:02

we also have family and friends presents to the kids under the tree. Granparents we go to their house and its presents from gran and grandad not santa as they used to say santa had been to their house, which is nonsense so i had to say to them to change it just to gran and grandad

BudaBeast · 10/11/2006 21:06

Everything under the tree was from FC. We were given presents in person by relatives except for both sets of grand-parents who said that FC had left toys for us at their house too.

Nothing from parents - mean buggers!!!!

We do everything from FC too now although DS has commented that we need to get him something too - mercenary little brat! Have decided to give him a present from us on Xmas Eve - new pjs, Xmas book and DVD.

Surfermum · 10/11/2006 21:09

We give each other a prezzie and that's under the tree and labelled accordingly. FC fills their stockings which are left in their bedrooms, so they wake to find them. The "stockings" are huge gift bags (so big that dd (3.6) can hide in one).

FrannyandZooey · 10/11/2006 21:15

"i have already told him that he will have to buy a pressie for his sister and give it to me so i acn send it to fc who then decides if they have been good enough for him to deliver it! does that sound weird?"

Erm, yes, it really does.

eidsvold · 10/11/2006 21:27

stockings - little things

rest from mum and dad

we don't 'do' santa in our house as such and dds haven't really twigged to the santa idea....

dh and I fill each other's stockings.

VanillaMilkshake · 10/11/2006 21:28

Stocking from Santa in bedroom full of unwrapped, with a few wrapped bit scattered on the floor (basically cos I have bought to many or too big for stocking. Large present under the tree from mummy and daddy, as well as a few other little things like puzzles etc. Other family presents also under the tree.

Stocking has to have choccy santa and torch and shiny pennies!

bigfatbump · 14/11/2006 13:29

We have a stocking with little wrapped things from Santa, and he usually leaves one larger wrapped gift in bedrooms too. All other presents are from named people, including us, and under the tree. This year Santa is going to leave the dolls house and the books and dvds etc will be from us.

Peridot30 · 14/11/2006 14:00

Our two have stockings and ther pressies from Santa. Nothing from us (mummy and daddy) cause we are mean!!!LOL. I have told ds that mummy and daddy have to save some money to send to Santa for pressies.

Peridot30 · 14/11/2006 14:01

Having read other posts might keep some pressies for dh and i to give them as that makes more sense.

KTeepee · 14/11/2006 14:34

Stockings and presents by fireplace are from FC, any presents from family are put under tree as they arrive or handed over in person. Also give something small from me and dh - in my family we always got presents from our parents as well as FC - I think because when we were little we must have queried why we didn't get presents from them when everyone else was giving us some - so they started doing that at some stage.

Dh didn't get any from his parents though - they told him they had to send the money to FC for his presents.
