flying lessons for dp....he shat himself just thinking of doing it!!, even though he doesnt mind flying on hols, he didnt actually tell me he was only able to do it after several pints!!!!!..had to sell lessons to someone i used to work with

ScummyMummy · 11/11/2006 19:28

We all got bored of the pricey robosapian's grunting and shit moves remarkably quickly last year. Playmobil very variable. Some of the more solid items have been top top buys but the ones with 7 million pieves often aren't worth the effort at all, imo.

Bugmum · 11/11/2006 20:05

I am a FOOL You can tell my DS isn't yet big enough for the latest thing, iyswim

Wanders off to hang head in shame

Sorry, Marne...

lucy5 · 11/11/2006 20:08

That Barbie horses head, what a boring piece of plastic junk!

Dropinthe · 11/11/2006 20:11

Homemade pickle onions.

themoon66 · 11/11/2006 20:28

Most played with by DD was Polly Pockets castle thingy. DS's favourite was lego... endless bloody lego. He is now 15 and I have a loft full of lego. Hundreds of pounds worth. He still uses mindstorms however.

Worst stuff was Barbies bloody horse box. Took me all of 6 hours of Chrismas day to put together.

This year DS wants a Matrix style full length leather coat and DD wants a trip to Milan for the catwalk shows in spring. How times change!

FawkesBride · 11/11/2006 20:44

Leap Pad is rubbish.

ELC Wooden Castle - 5yo now loves but changes the figures a lot - knights, pirates, monsters, princesses etc.

Last years roller-skates are fairly dusty.

Mirage · 11/11/2006 20:59

DD1 (3) has asked for an apple for Christmas.I might be able to manage that.

FatThighs · 11/11/2006 21:16

mirage - your DD souns absolutley divine - I assume you meant the fruit and not the computer!

FrannyandZooey · 11/11/2006 21:19

FatThighs, I am sorry to be so rude but your name is really, really awful

Can't we get you a nice name? I'm sure you are a lovely person and not just an over large body part

FawkesBride · 11/11/2006 21:52

I like 'FatThighs'. It reassures me that I'm among real women.

'NormousNorks' is also a good mumsnet name. And 'pelvicfloornomore'. And 'wrinklytum'. Etc.

FrannyandZooey · 11/11/2006 22:04

I think it just sounds so self-loathing, like when Greeny was MeanOldMummy

HugeThighs would be ok

or ReubenesqueThighs

or even DimpledThighs

FawkesBride · 11/11/2006 22:22

Perhaps whether it's self-loathing, self-congratulatory or self-awareness is in the eye of the beholder.

'Fat' is OK so it doesn't occur that someone would give themselves a demeaning name. Just a wry look at their mummy-selves.

Back to thread - DS1 was given lots of Weebles toys last year. They were so dull that he didn't even get them out of the box.

collision · 11/11/2006 22:41

Do any of you want to sell these 'dud' presents?

I think my ds would love an ELC wooden castle and am sure ds2 would love the Thomas Aquadraw.

sansouci · 11/11/2006 22:51

Damned Playmobile house. Falls apart if you even breathe on it, ds has destroyed the doors, flower boxes, ripped the pictures off the walls, the railings keep turning up in odd places (one found in washing machine). Also Baby Born clothes cupboard. Still in the box.

This year dd wants a Winx head but I will not have one of those scary heads in my home, thanks v. much! And yesterday we saw a barbie horse that "walks"... looks like something from one of those old Japanese dinosaur horror movies.

Excellent post, btw. May save us all ££££.

earlgrey · 11/11/2006 22:54

Not Christmas but dd2's an October babe and we took that face-changing barbie back as fast as she could open it!

Pinkchampagne · 11/11/2006 22:56

Thomas Aqua Draw is the most annoying toy going!
My Thomas mad DS2 received this last year. They don't warn you that all the time Thomas is moving (or getting stuck!) along tha Aqua draw, the Thomas theme tune is constanly playing!

Gillian76 · 11/11/2006 23:18

Pinkchampagne you just reminded me of the time I was woken up in the middle of the night by DD needing the toilet. We went and I was putting her back in bed when I hear a weird noise which semed to be coming from outside.

I opened the window and heard the Thomas theme tune. Turns out DS had dropped the train out of the window during the day and there it was going off in the middle of the night. Must have been set off by a cat or something! I'm sure I was a fine sight going out to fetch it in my nightie. God knows how long it had been going on?!

fussymummy · 11/11/2006 23:22

Would any of you pay approx. £300.00 for a battery operated pony that moves its head??????

Big enough for child to sit on its back.

Saw it advertised on tv tonight.

No way would i buy that.

Couldn't believe the price!!!

Pinkchampagne · 11/11/2006 23:25

LOL! I have often had the urge to throw the Thomas out of our top window!!

expatinscotland · 11/11/2006 23:31

Fussy
I saw that pony in John Lewis the other day.

It scared the hell out of me.

fussymummy · 11/11/2006 23:45

We just looked at each other and laughed.

I really can't believe the 'tat' that's being sold.

jetsetmum · 11/11/2006 23:55

All my 3.5 year old ds1 wants for Christmas is clock & a watch. I think they will be a bit pointless at his age but don't want to dissapoint him. What do you think?

blossomsmine · 12/11/2006 00:02

You could probably buy a shetland pony (real) for £250 suppose you would have to feed it though

AitchTwoOh · 12/11/2006 00:07

they were demonstrating the thomas the tank engine aquadraw on fern and phil but couldn't get it to work at all. fern was pissing herself laughing (i fear for that woman's pelvic floor sometimes).
