My Mum asked for some nice towels (which is a bit boring really) so I'll get her those, plus some related but more personal stuff - does anyone remember who it is that does those fancy designer rubber ducks?! there was a link on here ages ago.

LunarSea · 03/11/2006 13:48

These ones?

foxtRocketsToTheStars · 03/11/2006 13:51

thaetre tickets or something hobby-related.
also from the kids, leather keys fobs with their picture inside (a bargainacious £3 each in Tesco!)

Azure · 03/11/2006 13:52

For the last few birthdays and Christmas I have bought theatre tickets (Sound of Music this time - for March next year!). In the past English Heritage membership, local arboretum annual pass, books, DVDs, Freeview box, DVD player, radio, camera.

serenity · 03/11/2006 16:22

Yes! Thanks LunarSea

I've got my mum a watch as she was complaining that hers has a scratched face. Nothing for my dad yet but I've seen a nice cashmnere jumper in M&S that I think he would like.

I've bought mum and mil each a book called the good granny diary, or something like that. It's a lovely hardback diary with granny tips etc. These are going to be from dd.

For fil so far I've bought a book called "Why don't penguins feet freeze?" it's basically a book made up of randomly interesting science questions and answers from the New Scientist. This will probably be his Christmas present from dd but may change into a birthday present from us as his bday is Boxing Day.

This thread has now made me think of a great idea for the pil! We will get them annual membership to visit Alnwick Gardens. They only live 15-20 miles away and they've been once and commented on how they enjoyed it. £40 for both of them is a bargain as they would pay £15 for the two of them for one visit normally.

RTKangaMummy · 03/11/2006 21:28

this is what I am about to order for my mum as part of her pressie

Don't know yet for my dad, may get him some church organ music - he plays the organ,

So prob not much help to people if their mum doesn't do sewing or their dad play the organ

tigi · 03/11/2006 22:42

gardeners world subscription.
I thought about using my tesco vouchers to get a marriot voucher for an overnight visit.
dad would like a garden recliner.

Azure, great minds think alike

Can I ask how you got the Sound of Music tickets (i am getting them for my mum too)? Was it on-line? if you could point me in the right direction, that would be great... thanks.

angmarie · 04/11/2006 12:53

we have clubbed together with my 2 brothers and bought them top tickets to two shows they want to go to , as they have everything they need so we were really stuck .

We also did one year a nice weekend away for them

saltire · 04/11/2006 12:58

SueW · 04/11/2006 13:55

sound of music tickets available through John Lewis's greenbee

We've (between 3 children- about £15 each) bought my mum a Bodum Assam teapot with stainless steel filter and a swarovski pink ribbon bracelet (supporting breast cancer)

MissybaBANG · 04/11/2006 14:00

thanks SueW

I generally get my theatre tickets from See Tickets as I find the booking fee lower than Ticketmaster and availability of seats better. The time to confirm the ticket allocation times out pretty quickly, though - I've lost count of the times I've dithered slightly before entering all my credit card and address details, only to find I've left it too late and have to start again. I'll be interested to investigate Greenbee after the suggestion.

indiemummy · 04/11/2006 16:35

Dad - vinyl record frames from www.artvinyl.com 29.99

Mum - Diptyque candle from Selfridges 25.00 plus something nice for the bath from Boots.

Great ideas here! PS I'm not normally this organised but with baby due 9th Dec I thought I'd better get a move on! Indie x

sophyroe · 17/11/2006 16:30

Hi,

Just thought I would give everyone some gift ideas and hope to get some back!

I just bought my partner a smoothie maker and a sock subscription. I can't stop raving about the sock subscription though because i've never seen anything like it.

I always get him socks for Christmas but this website sends them out all year like a magazine subscription.

I don?t know what he?ll say when I give him the certificate on Christmas day but he?s never happy anyway! At least it will keep it looking good.

The website is www.SocksOn.co.uk if you want to have a look.

Has anyone got any ideas for another present? I think the smoothie junior is a good idea, especially for his waist.

Famous Grouse are doing personalised bottles of whisky for any scotch drinkers.

On the front label is 'The Famous *' so they will print on Grandad, Father or whatever, and there is room for a printed message on the back. You can order them online - just make sure you get the spelling right - unlike me!!

They've filled quite a few ideas for us this year!

TwoToTango · 17/11/2006 16:54

Which is the online site for ordering the whisky fairyjay? looked on famous grouse site but can't see it.

TwoToTango · 18/11/2006 12:32
