DS1 is 9. Was thinking of getting him a personal CD player for christmas but have seen some with mp3 in too.
Or would just a mp3 player be better.
What do you think of either of these?
CD player with mp3.

I would go for the MP3 player because it's so much more portable and you can transfer all their CD's on it*. I don't know if you have a preference for the colour or make of the one you've linked to but if not, you can get one for the same price with twice the capacity. I bought this one for my son to go on holiday last month and it's great.

  • I'm assuming you have a pc as you're posting on here!

I'd go for the mp3 player too - I like TeeJaye's link, good offer too!

TortUREoiseChamber · 21/10/2006 22:17

Thanks for that.
Yes have pc!
Im not worried about what make/colour. I know absolutely nothing about mp3's!

Depends what you mean by cheap - I noticed this in Argos today but obviously more money would get you a better make.

TortUREoiseChamber · 21/10/2006 23:07

Yes i saw that but never heard of the make. Apparently Tesco do a good cheap one!
I know nothing about cameras either! lol

There's an Olympus at Amazon but it's slightly more than £50. I'll see what else I can find.

TortUREoiseChamber · 21/10/2006 23:16

Thanks.
Will check back tomorrow.I need sleep!
He is only 7 so nothing to complicated! lol

Couldn't really find any good make cameras for under £50 besides these reconditioned Kodaks . I was going to suggest that the Vivitar one would be fine for a 7 year old starter camera but found this so I wouldn't bother. That one poster mentions one they found in Superdrug so it's probably best to have a scout around (Asda usually have a few cheap ones) but look for something with optical zoom.

Ooooooo, just found a new Nikon from a private seller on Amazon , again it's over £50 but if you're looking for a decent make, I think you're going to have to pay a bit more.

jampots · 22/10/2006 00:31

mp3 player

TeeJaye · 22/10/2006 01:05

Only other one I could find was a Fuji from Amazon , which is more expensive again but it's a really good camera and excellent deal.

fussymummy · 22/10/2006 01:50

If you're looking for cheap cameras, check out www.price-droptv or www.bidtv look in their clearance range as well.
Lots of their cameras come with memory cards and software.

TortUREoiseChamber · 22/10/2006 11:44

Thanks TeeJaye. Would the recon ones be a safe choice? or better to get new?
Im not too bothered about make just something good that will last a while!

Hubby is the camera buff and he said that the recon ones should be OK but he would go for the Vivitar one in Argos. Personally, I would have a look in Asda/Tesco/Superdrug for any good deals - look for about 3 million pixels (less will have poor quality/more is just not needed unless you plan on making posters out of the photos! ) and preferably an optical zoom.
