never heard any teacher saying no to a bottle of wine though!!!
Oxfam idea lovely but don't think it would go down well with dd (3) who went shopping to choose her nursery teacher's pressie last year and had to get a bottle of pink rose wine (cos it was pink juice that ladies like - where does she get that from??!!) and had to be wrapped up in pink cellophane (left over from a a present) with pink bows. See a theme anyone?

I don't think you have to give, but think how much you are saving on private school fees....

Or how much you are paying in private school fees.....

I gave my dd's key worker at nursery a bottle of champagne in a (probably futile) attempt to gain favour. Last year it was Sanctuary stuff, and then Occitane hand cream.

I usually send something for the staff room and a gift for teacher. I just thought this way it was helping someone when the teacher has loads!!!

I will be getting lots of the oxfam gifts this year, as eveyone has far too much stuff aready,
£6.00 gets 100 school dinners, can you beleive it 100 school dinners cost less then i spend on coffee at starbucks.

I think its a gerat idea for the school.

hauntymandy · 19/10/2006 20:09

Also think it is a great idea, and also will be shamelessly stealing it!

My kids have always taken xmas gifts and end of term gifts in to their teachers.

Never buy crappy presents.

Always buy them something that i'd like to receive myself.

anniebear · 20/10/2006 13:03

I know Teachers and at Christmas and end of term they give loads of their presents away to a chaity shop

Imagine 30 chocs/smellies!!!!

hauntymandy what a fantastic idea ? DS (reception) has 2 teachers ? have just bought 12 text books and 100 school meals. Was delighted to find on checkout that they have an ?extra gift? section ? added 2 x Fair Trade Mango Delights so they will have a little something for themselves too? Can?t thank you enough for bringing this to my attention.
