I am the anti-snow

I have never seen snow at Christmas

so

where can I go (see Filly's mad parents thread for why) at Christmas where it will def snow

or failing that, is diggerland winter wonderland any good?

The highlands of Scotland might be a good place to try (though not guaranteed)

The first year I knew dh (who is Australian and had virtually never seen snow) we went to Scotland for the New Year. We had plenty of snow and dh was like a kid in a candy shop! It was funny because he really had no idea how cold and wet snow was!

On top of a mountain in Scotland is usually a safe bet

FrannyandZooey · 14/10/2006 15:30

OOh, in Essex it snows a lot. Really, loads, all the time, especially at Christmas.

FillyjonkthePumpkinEater · 14/10/2006 15:33

ok

  1. fran i suspect dishonesty. . (does it really or is this a hcc is called jo and greeny is not agatha thing?)
  1. I lived in Scotland for 4 years. 1 xmas in glasgow , 2 in edinburgh and one, in ffs, oban. No snow.

I think I may have accidentally performed some sort of snow-repellant charm at some time.

Highlands I have not tried. Hmmm. interesting...hmmm....

Oh it has to be the highlands. I am not entirely sure of Scottish geography, but I remember passing Glasgow to get to where we were going and it was hours after Glasgow before we reached our destination (mind you the roads were both flooded - driving through puddles that came up over the sill of the door! - and blocked by snow).

FrannyandZooey · 14/10/2006 15:41

It did snow here one year. I have only had two white Christmases since I was born and one of them was here. So, you've as much chance here as anywhere, I reckon.

Why don't you just go to Austria or somewhere?

FrannyandZooey · 14/10/2006 15:41

Oh and every time we go up to Sunderland it is beyond freezing so that's another good bet

SoMuchToBats · 14/10/2006 15:43

Friend of mine went to Glencoe a couple of years ago at Christmas, and it snowed there.

FillyjonkthePumpkinEater · 14/10/2006 15:44

well I don't want to stop it snowing it the whole of austria , it would cause the ski business to collapse and would be seen as antisocial.

highlands of scotland it is then...take it thats anywhere north of edinburgh then?

My knowledge of Scottish geography is naff but there is a reindeer centre in the Cairngorms (wherever they are) and if you go I will be but you could tell me what it is like.

I live in Aberdeenshire (when I'm not in Africa) and we've had quite a few white Christmases in recent years. I would say to stand the best chance of getting snow you need to be north of Perth, not just N of Edin/Glasgow. Have fun!
