Wondering what to do for a special Xmas breakfast. Usually do pancakes but we have had those a lot recently. Considering cinnamon roles but I need a good recipe...

This is for fussy kids so not smoked salmon etc

I make a cinnamon and sugar filled plaited brioche wreath studded with dried cherries and festooned with a bow. Sounds a faff, but if you can make brioche dough, the rest is simply a bit of sprinkling and some plaiting. You can make a drip icing if you want to up the sugar content.

Looks very Christmasy and is delicious.

Otherwise, what about Eggs benedict? If you are short on time, the hollandaise sauce can be pre-purchased.

Another good option is a bread basket with the frozen croissants, pain au chocolates, and pain au raisin mentioned above (I always have them in my freezer for any emergency).

Hot chocolates for everyone would be a must. Try just melting a very good quality dark chocolate in a saucepan with milk. Add sweetener of choice (I usually top with marshmallow fluff) and optional flavours (mint syrup? hazelnut syrup?gingerbread syrup). Drink.

DH has requested mushrooms and kippers!! It's my fault I said he could have anything he wanted.
Kids are having croissants and I'm making a fruit tree. I'm gluten free so will have yogurt granola and some fruit from the tree or I may do some eggs.
My dad will have coffee and whatever he's not fussed.

Adults here - dH has smoked salmon muffins, I'm not keen so im
Having pate on muffins with onion chutney and my family are having bacon butties. Boxing day is pre-made frozen pastries (from a naice farm shop).

We have pancakes and croissants with Buck's Fizz. The DC also get huge boxes of chocolatey cereal (which we don't normally buy) so they'll undoubtedly want some of that too.

This year I have got some breakfast muffins and for in them sausage, egg, bacon. Also have an aldi brioche tree. Homemade load of bread with luxury butter too!

callmekitten · 22/12/2014 12:40

LucasNorthsBaubles yes they're very close to Cinnabons...a little more yeasy then Cinnabons but I think a good cinnamon roll should be a little yeasty along with the sweetness. Give them a go and let me know what you think.

WonderingWillow · 22/12/2014 12:48

I'm making cinnamon rolls for the first time this year; also following an overnight recipe and then baking fresh in the morning... I can't wait!

Vvvoom · 22/12/2014 21:45

Ooh thank you so much. Love your recipe callme. And the Nigella and Hollywood buns sound fab too.

Going to make the cinnamon buns!

Rolls and slice with brown sauce. I might buy the DC croissants and brioche as they both love them, fresh orange juice and chocolate coins!

KiaOraOAotearoa · 22/12/2014 21:59

This year we're having crumpets! With loads of butter and hot coffee.
We will have linen napkins, mind Grin

cheapandcheerful · 22/12/2014 22:57

I asked 4yo dd if she could think of a special Christmas breakfast that we could have on Christmas morning and she suggested jelly and ice-cream!

So we shall be having blueberry muffins, jelly and ice-cream Grin

SanityClause · 22/12/2014 23:02

And that's the spirit of Christmas, right there, cheapandcheerful! Grin

Waitrose pastries (the frozen pre-baked croissants and pain au chocolat) with coffee, fruit, and mimosas orange juice for us! Just pop in the oven from frozen and you have a feast in 20 minutes. Easy and delicious.

Selks · 22/12/2014 23:17

Bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon, and a big pot of coffee.

MummyPig24 · 23/12/2014 05:08

We are having those little raisin brioche swirl things, bacon sandwiches and fruit. And chocolate of course!!

babycakes76 · 23/12/2014 18:06

we're similar.

The kids have chocolate for starters then croissants, pancakes, bagels, fruit and loads of syrup!

I might have to look up Nigella's Christmas muffins !

nappyaddict · 24/12/2014 02:33
