Do you put each persons in a pile or take them randomly from under the tree and pass them out or something different?

Stockings in bedroom, Father Christmas presents in a pile per person, under tree presents after Christmas Dinner which can be as late as 7pm as we have several NHS employees in the familu and wait til everuone is home from work.

DD's stocking is in her room and when she wakes up, she brings it into our room and opens it on our bed. Other presents are under the tree randomly and are opened randomly but I do try to hold off on the Greatest Wish present until last if possible.

Stockings when they wake, on our bed. One at a time, opening a thing in the stocking each, lots of oohs and aahs.

Then downstairs to one big Santa present. Later, the DC sort the presents under the tree and pile them for each person on a section of sofa or chair. This was my most favourite job as a child, and my own DC now love it. Xmas Smile

Then open one each, one at a time, and ooh and ahh.

When we all wake up we go downstairs to see what Santa has left in the dcs sacks. They open all that then we shower, get dressed and have breakfast and then we open the presents under the tree. I hand them out one by one.

It depends on the year. This year DS will open a few bits for his toy kitchen first thing which he can play with while I cook. DH picking up DSS's around midday. When they get back it's stockings (Santa drops main gift at their mothers but fills stockings here as well - nice bloke that Santa Wink). Then we'll eat then we'll do gifts from under the tree. Being done that way as DSS1 has only got one gift from us (big Lego model) and we want him to be able to open it and play with it. Going to IL's on Boxing Day for gifts from that side of family (because they go so overboard my side do National Trust membership etc so little in way of unwrapping).

When we have DSS's on Christmas Eve it's all a mad rush as they go at midday.

Stockings full of tat on our bed in the morning. Then breakfast, church and coffee. Then we open the presents under the tree in order, youngest to oldest, each opening one while the others watch, comment. It takes hours but is much more measured and gives far more consideration to each gift than an unwrapping frenzy. When they were small, we even had a break for a nap.

Then nibbles for lunch and big meal at 5 to allow for sleeping in front of the fire afterwards.

Stockings hung by the fireplace in living room. Brought up to our bedroom on Christmas morning for opening.

Main presents are under the tree. Children dish them out either before or after lunch. Each person has a pile by their armchair/spot on the sofa. We take it in turns to open a gift, youngest first. Takes a good hour to open everything.....want to enjoy it and admire everyone's things.

BiddyPop · 22/12/2014 12:54

Randomly, and each gift is opened before the next one is passed out

BiddyPop · 22/12/2014 13:04

Santa is first thing, everything under the tree is after Mass, visiting relatives we need to call on. We get home, light the fire, put turkey in the oven, turn on tree lights, clear down kitchen, open a bottle of something nice and grab some nibbles before tucking into pulling out presents (and stopping for quick breaks if something needs doing in the kitchen).

Only me and DH here (and only us in this country) so we make a fuss to take up time. Usually 15-20 things each from each other to unwrap (including things fr say 50p each, just so we are unwrapping).

All pressies under the tree, along with small transportable pressies from family and occasionally friends if we've swapped pressies pre-Christmas this year not all seeing each other til NYE

We each crawl about under the tree at the same time picking out presents and putting them in 4 piles. Others to me, others to him, him to me, me to him.

Then we open the fizzy stuff and go for it.
