i was thinking of buying a play kitchen for my 4 yr old daughter for christmas , do you think shes too old or will she get some use out of it ? I really liked the wooden one in ELC but of course she likes the bright plastic one!

My five year old niece still plays with her toy kitchen. I know how tempting it is to buy the beautiful wooden version, but buy her the plastic one if that's what she wants (probably cheaper too).

The plastic one in ELC is great and really worth the money

ELC one is good - and comes with loads of accessories.

BouncyTigger · 11/10/2006 12:48

Any one got the electronic smart kitchen from argos? here and what do you think of it?

Am looking at it for 2 year old DD but cos it's argos and comes in pieces it's impossible to see it first.

Its really hard isnt it , to be honest i could go to home bargains and spend £20 on over the top ,sparkly and pink tat and she would be over the moon . But because her brother is so much older and gets alot spent on him i always feel they should get the same amount of money spent on them , not that she has any idea of the value of money ! thanks for your help though ,i think it will be the early learning one i go for ,plus you get loads of stuff with it

This site has the classiest one I've ever seen. Even the playfood is gorgeous. Click on the rainbow at the top of the homepage.

toysrus are doing the Tefal deluxe one for £60 normally £80 and comes with loads of accessories including a kettle and toaster

ja9 · 05/11/2006 20:55

that wooden one is lovely. the stuff is very tasteful...

good thing about the elc one is that it has a dishwasher & i know ds loves helping to load and unload ours.

sweetkitty · 05/11/2006 20:59

I've ordered the elc one but thinking of sending it back and buying the tefal one instead [blsuh] I am a nightmare

starshaker · 05/11/2006 20:59

i have bought the tefl 1 that nellie245 linked to. it has a toaster and stuff with it 2. and at only £24 it will be a good buy even if she doesnt play with it for years

sandcastles · 05/11/2006 21:02

my dd has the one similar to neliie245's link. Once it all put together it's just over her eye line (she's 3). She loves it.

sweetkitty · 06/11/2006 21:27

Shouldn't have looked at that one as well, I always do this buy something then see something better for less money argh!!!

My reckoning is I have 2 DDs so it needs to be a good sturdy one to last them years.

arfishymeau · 06/11/2006 22:12

I've just bought this one for DD for her 4th birthday. She plays kitchens and cooking all the time, so I'm hoping she'll be thrilled. It's got a fridge freezer, oven, dishwasher, sink & microwave. I've bought lots of food to hide inside and some new pots and pans. There's even a kitchen roll holder on the end.
