Where to buy an empty hamper?

I've left this a bit late. We're coming towards the end of some building work and I'd like to make the 3 main chaps a hamper for Christmas as a thank you/Christmas gift. I am buying the contents - mince pies, prosecco, chocs etc...

I need some good basket/tray recommendations. I need something fairly large and preferably not too pricey!

Home bargains has some in £3.99-£5.99 depending on the size.

Tkmaxx
They have basketware or decorative boxes

I say a tray-style hamper in a branch of The Works yesterday - that cheapish chain that sells discount books/cards/stationery. It included straw Grin. Can't remember how much but maybe about £3.99?

Our garden centre sells them, but they are much more expensive than others have mentioned.

Saw some in JohnLewis not so long ago, complete with some packaging materials - no idea of price but I suspect it might not fulfill the "not too pricey" requirement.
Otherwise yes TKmaxx, also look at bowls or other things in the homewares section, not just baskets.

Thanks for suggestions. Home bargains looks perfect, but don't have one near me and they've sold out online.

I could go to a TK Maxx tomorrow and have a look. I was really hoping for somewhere online.

Waitrose gift crate. The heart may not be appropriate? How much do you love your builders?!

Or get a cardboard box in the right size and gift wrap it.

SoupDragon · 09/12/2014 14:24

Hobbycraft have some I think.

SoupDragon · 09/12/2014 14:25

Yes, they have a whole section called hamper making

pigsinmud · 09/12/2014 14:35

Thank you. I had looked at ebay and had come down to either a jute bag - items stacked in bag - or a wicker basket with cellophane - items easily visible. I'm just so indecisive!

The Range have some.

Last year, I ended up gift wrapping an open box, which looked quite effective as a last minute effort!

I am making a hamper tomorrow. I have a medium sized sturdy box which I will cover with lovely silver xmas paper I bought in Tescos last year reduced to 20p a roll! Then I'm putting some of it through the shredder and using that to pad the box. Then placing the items inside. In my mind it looks amazing Grin I will let you know the outcome tomorrow!

Waitrose give away their display present style cardboard boxes if you ask nicely.
