We have monopoly which I detest but will play under protest.

I was thinking of cluedo? What is Balderdash like?

Any other suggestions? Age range for Christmas is a 10 yr old, 41 yr old, 38 year old and two old fogeys in their 80s! :)

my kids are 11,10 and 8 and they love Labyrinth and often beat me at it! There is also a great German game called HeckMeck that we all enjoy.

Another vote for cranium. Also,if you can get it, KillerBunnies is quite good fun

Snakes and Ladders is the equivalent of brain death.

I agree with Ticket to Ride if your older contingent likes games, or Qwerkle if they don't.

Actually, your ten year old is the right age for poker? Chocolate coins for stakes?

Okay it's's not a game but I've bought a daft photograph set. It is a an outline of a picture frame with a selection of daft hats, noses, glasses etc to provide a few silly snaps of the day. It should appeal to all ages. They are in primark, M & S and Matalan. Also Lakeland had a box of crackers with windup
Elves. It comes with a race track. Again, just a bit of fun for all ages and it won't drag on for hours.

We play cranium but have to have house rules to make it work mixed ages.

There are a few copies of TtR Nordic
Countries on ebay.
Also it seems to be widely available in the Us (50$ from the publisher) so not out of print - have you tried emailing Paul at the Guru or David at Leisure Games to see if they can restock it before Christmas?

CatCushion · 10/12/2014 07:39

Don't forget a couple of packs of cards! Ask the olds what they would like to teach your DC.

BunnyBunnyMooseMoose

I asked 16yo DD1 yesterday if there was a family game she'd like me to order and she's requested Cards Against Humanity. I looked at the website and have decided not to order it after all...

Archangelfarchnad · 10/12/2014 15:49

I've just taken the plunge and order Cranium. It had better be good, people.

bozo14 · 10/12/2014 21:13

You will love it!! We have so many laughs with cranium x
