Once you'e got the Big Shop, where do you get your last minute groceries?

I plan to do the frozen and store cupboard shopping the week before Christmas (Nectar Points )
And a Waitrose shop on the last school day (Friday when I'm not at work)

Then on the Monday, buy the vegetables and dairy.

But -last minute things like nice bread , milk (I'm cooking for 8)

I don't want to go the the big supermarket if I can avoid it.

How can I find out if Greggs is open on the 24th?
Anyone know? (Web-site tells me nothing)

Online. I have my slot booked with asda for the 23rd.

All shops will be open on christmas eve.

I get my last bits from the Co Op across the road from me.

Lidl. There's really nothing I couldn't manage without without anyone noticing by that stage though.

A beadmaker really comes into it's own over the holidays. Always fresh bread without leaving the house.

There is a co-op near us for milk etc but I shop at sainsburys and it is never too busy so will just go on the 23rd.

I have a online slot with waitrose for the 23rd, shops are only really shut for a day so hopefully I won't need to go anywhere.

I have booked an online delivery slot with SuperValu on Thursday 18th - frozen, storecupboard and most fresh veg etc needs will be sorted then.

We will be in M&S on Christmas Eve to get DD's birthday cake and a few nibblie bits. And a turkey crown if I haven't got it before then. (The city centre M&S near my office tends to be busy but not as manic as suburban supermarkets that day, strangely - and also much better organized for the rush!). I'll probably try and get whatever else we need there, even if it costs more

If we need more than that on Christmas Eve, (remember things when we get home, or Twitch!!) I will either go to Tesco convenience near home or SuperValu (probably the smaller one locally - which is still decent enough for a weekly shop), or maybe Lidl (I can get Lidl and SV together in 1 direction, a different Lidl in another, and a different, proper supermarket sized SV in a 3rd).

The aim is to pretty much avoid having to do a proper SM shop that week. I may even manage to avoid it this week if I work it out well - I know I need bread, milk, only 2 different meats and some fruit/veg, so I might get away with butcher, F&V shop and Tesco convenience/small SV/Lidl dash. And I want to go to a specialist off licence this week to get some Christmas beers for DH, so I will probably get whatever other alcohol we need then - I have wine for Christmas Day but need some volume wine for guests on Boxing Day and a few Guinness - I have a box of Miller ordered in the online order.

All the shops are open on Christmas Eve, and if last year is anything to go by, they'll be pretty quiet.

Apparently so many people shop online now that the supermarkets don't get as crowded as they used to.

We'll get the stuff Tesco forgot from the local high street.

We get the last minute bits in M&S as there's quite a big one with its own carpark just down the road, but most stuff you can get from the local co-op these days!

Sainsburys order due on 23rd that I can keep changing until 22nd. DH getting the Marks order on 23rd. Anything I have missed will be from the local co-op.

We live rural but the small market town has a lot of little cheap market shops that I will be getting my veg from.

However I will always have milk because I don't run out. I buy it in bulk and I buy extra in at Christmas and freeze it just in case.
