Someone just wrote about Mr Frosty on another thread and I got a little shiver remembering how much I wanted one and how excited I was when I opened it on Christmas morning Grin

DH remembers getting a Spirograph and a snooker table !! (Must have been considerably richer than we were!) and having to keep it up in the living room all Christmas Day Smile

A MyChild by Mattel. I watched the advert on the telly for weeks and used to go and visit one in Boots and stroke it's hand. I got one. The best Christmas ever in a million years. I still remember opening the paper and the excitement when I saw her dark hair.

WowserBowser · 07/12/2014 18:41

Oh yes, I remember my MyChild! She had a red romper suit on and was called Poppy.

I believed that there were no two the same.

WowserBowser · 07/12/2014 18:42

We also had Mr Frosty. It was tat. I don't remember it ever working.

Marchhairy · 07/12/2014 18:50

Randomly - a metal detector. My parents did that thing where they bring in more presents later that Santa had left elsewhere- they brought in a wrapped golf club for my brother- the disappointment! My mum had been telling me how Tandy and Argos had sold out but I believed in Santa!

northernmummeh · 07/12/2014 18:52

Lights alive. I asked for it eeeeeevery year. Finally got it eventually Grin

Another Mr Frosty wannabe.

Recently found one in a charity shop so bought it for £3, but then was told by my friend that she had one as a DC and the stuff tasted horrible so ended up giving it back to the charity shop. Don't understand why parents didn't buy it for me as a child, it wasn't that expensive.

AugustRose · 07/12/2014 19:09

I always wanted a Paddington Bear but they were too expensive. When I was 17 and met my DH he bought me one :) along with a matching duvet cover which is currently being used on DD2's bed 23 years later and still in really good condition.

SisterNancySinatra · 07/12/2014 19:16

Yes I definitely wanted the Sindy house too, for my poor barbie who had to have a cardboard box as a bedroom ( Praps it was better built than the real thing then). I also wanted for some unexplainable reason a knitting bag , I never got one probably because I never did any knitting.

schmeegle · 07/12/2014 19:27

NotSoSkinnyNow I got a petite 9-90 too, best Christmas ever!

Hankered after Mr Frosty as well.

Lookslikeimstuckhere · 07/12/2014 19:33

My Lights Alive is still in DMs loft. Missing a few bits but I loved it. Must dig it out...

Would have swapped in a heartbeat for an A La Carte Kitchen though. My mum refused to buy one on the basis that it was sexist and she refused to let me have such a stereotyped toy. She wanted me to have a woodworking bench instead.

More fool her, she was the one who missed out on Swiss roll and beans for breakfast Xmas Grin

Whowillsaveyoursoul · 07/12/2014 19:57

I'm toying with getting ds (5) a second hand lights alive - think it's still be appreciated today even with the all singing all dancing toys they now have?

DramaAlpaca · 07/12/2014 20:03

A Girl's World.

I got one Smile

vindscreenviper · 07/12/2014 20:26

Ladymoods that Argos link!
I love you, I'd forgotten all about the silver-plated gun carriages for serving After Eights in. Grin

vindscreenviper · 07/12/2014 20:32

Back on topic I never got the Stylophone I wanted for years and years.

Azquilith · 07/12/2014 20:38

A yellow teddy bear, I got one. It was AMAZING and 25 years later I still have it.

Clarabumps · 07/12/2014 21:22

I also had the sindy dream house. I loved it. I stayed up and played by the light of the ceiling light on the landing. I was a wee bit annoyed as i was a Barbie girl to the core but I loved it.

Ah, I wish I was 8 again.

Blankiefan · 07/12/2014 22:20

Why did No one buy us our Mr Frostys?Sad - cold, not sad. I'd imagine they do Ming and don't go on about it too much to parents in case they buy me one now!!

TheScottishPlay · 07/12/2014 22:22

A yellow Snoopy watch. It's still at my mum's house. Loved it.

meditrina · 07/12/2014 22:23

I really, really wanted to win the WHSmith "Win a Pony" competition.

Clarabumps · 07/12/2014 22:23

My friend bought me a Mr Frosty about two years ago and I swear, It was the most work I've ever done in my life to crush a bit of bloody ice.
I'm glad she did though, we both never got one and the very act of making one single ice drink totally put all those resentments to bed. I should really have had one when I was little.

People of Mumsnet. Buy your kids a chocolate coin maker and put this to bed once and for all. Don't let this cycle continue.

A my little pony Show Stable. I still remember my Santa letter.

That was an amazing present. It makes me feel excited about my own DD getting old enough to be truly excited about Christmas, she is 3.

FelixFelix · 07/12/2014 22:45

I always wanted a Baby All Gone but never got one. My friend had one and I used to be amazed that the milk magically drained from her bottle when you turned it upside down.

Every time I mention that I wanted a certain toy as a kid, my DP always says that he had one. The spoilt bugger Sad

TortoiseInAShell · 07/12/2014 22:57

Always a dog - never got one.
